Change Is In The Air!

With Spring comes change and it seems we are embracing that in full scale around here!

To begin, after many long discussions, we have decided to put our house on the market with the idea of downsizing and re-prioritizing: less focus on things and more emphasis on experiences.

On top of the house hitting the market this week, my son begins a new school tomorrow and by the weekend we'll be headed off to Amsterdam. Part vacation, part research trip to see if it's a place we'd like to relocate to on a temporary basis in the next year or so. Phew. Catch my breath.

But now it's time to get busy prepping the house for pictures to be taken in a couple hours.

Here's to new adventures, right?!

  12. We are excited, checking out Amsterdam with the hope there will the opportunity to move there for a year in the next year or so. Also looking for a smaller/less expensive house in the hood that we can rent out if opportunities present themselves elsewhere, with a home base to return to. Well see... lots of dreams and plans and a lot that has to fall into place. Fingers crossed!

  15. I have a feeling your lovely home will be snapped up fast.
I've been to Amsterdam, but only as a tourist; it seems like a friendly, compact city with excellent English spoken widely. Personally, I think I'd still want to learn a little Dutch, but I do have a friend who lived in Holland for a while with very little language knowledge. Have a wonderful trip!

  16. Exciting news Janell! Browsing thru these photos...I am reminded of all the incredible projects you did and shared with us along the way. Having moved 6 time with my husbands job...I would have loved the opportunity to move abroad. Amsterdam sounds like an amazing possibility. Good luck with the moving process...and fingers crossed for you. Change can be sometimes scary, often exciting, but always necessary.

  20. How exciting! We relocated for a few years (only to Washington DC but it was different enough from Vancouver, Canada) and it was one of our best life experiences ever. Our kids have such fond memories and still talk that when they are adults, they are going to move back! I saw go for it - you only live once! Good luck on the sale of your home, you have it so beautifully done, I am sure it will sell quickly. And please, keep us in the loop as to where you are off to next! Good luck to your son as well. It isn't easy starting a new school. My kids can attest to that!

  23. Your house is such a visual just that I'm sure it will sell quickly. But what makes a house a home is the love of the family and you have that in spades!
