Festive Sangria!

Heading just down the street for a holiday get together last night,
I decided to mix up a batch of festive Sangria!

'the best red wine sangria'

ingredients:
2 large oranges, washed, one sliced, one juiced
1 large lemon, washed and sliced
1/4 cup granulated white sugar
1/4 cup Triple Sec
1 (750 ml) bottle red wine

directions:
Add sliced orange, lemon and sugar to large pitcher. Mash gently with wooden spoon until fruit releases its juice, but not totally crushed. After sugar is dissolved, stir in juice of orange, Triple Sec and wine. Refrigerate for at least 2 and up to 8 hours.

Before serving, add ice if desired and stir briskly to distribute settled fruit.

 {for our crowd I basically doubled the recipe...}

Here's to enjoying the season, {and please don't drink and drive...}

Hi Janell, This sounds great. Can you clarify for us the 1/4 triple sec? What unit of measure are you considering? We are making this, and I am prepared to put in 1/4 of a large bottle, and my husband said I better ask you first... :-)

Thanks

I love Sangria! Will be making this for our annual Feliz Navidad Christmas day dinner to serve with my homemade enchiladas. A delicious variation is to add some sparkling soda or 7up just before serving, for those that like a little bubbly!

Great recipe...will definitely have to try it! Hey, did you know that December 20th was supposedly 'National Sangria Day'? Here's the article where I saw it...they have several other sangria recipes as well.
