When the designer sent me these shots, I was blown away!
What a beautiful apartment in Lisbon, Portugal designed by Ana Cordeiro.
A cheerful breakfast nook off the kitchen is a
perfect place for a young family to begin their day. White cabinetry and
furniture designed by Ana, paired with the light streaming in, creates an airy room
for each day of the year. A brightly colored ‘Laugh’ print is a simple reminder
of one of the best parts of being a family.
The inspirational starting point for this entire
project was the ‘Julian’ Blue on White wallpaper from Thibaut, seen in the master
bedroom. Blue is one of the couple’s favorite colors, and so it was decided it
would run throughout the apartment in varying shades, with hints of yellow,
green, red and orange as accent colors. To ensure the overall effect remained modern, an
abundance of white was brought in through pieces from her furniture collection,
many featuring trellis and geometric patterns in their detailing.
Anything less than brilliant green tile run floor to ceiling would be a disappointment in a home boldly embracing color. It works here paired with white and gray.
The room of a three year old boy is a whimsical delight, with primary colors
and a pair of toy zebras mounted on the wall.
There is
a delightful consistency from room to room, which begins upon entering the
apartment. Because the entry of the apartment is actually quite small, Ana covered
the walls in boldly striped wallpaper and then treated the corridor just beyond
as if it’s the true entrance. Carrying the stripes into the hall would have
been too much, but a wool zig zag rug introduces a vibrant and complimentary
pattern. A mirror lines the wall at the far end of the hall, creating the
illusion of a space going on forever. A large bust placed on a white pedestal
lends a hint of drama, while the luminous blue on the wall is a wallpaper from
Sandberg.

I love all the color! Can I tell you that the white/blue trellis wallpaper in the first few images is used at The Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach, FL. :) We stayed there last July and I remember it distinctly.

Gaga over this home! Really, really want those green cane patterned lamps! Source please?????
Never be afraid to play with colors and patterns. You just need to find what's right for your room. Put your lifestyle, personality, and the room's function into consideration. One quick tip: colorful patterns look good on white!

That green tiled bathroom looks so good. My wife and I are thinking of renovating our bathroom next month. I think I’ll suggest that look to her. After all, she likes the color green. =) Thanks for the idea!
