Scrolling down the pages of Pinterest the other day, I was suddenly struck by an irony: endless pins telling us how to get a perfect body adjacent to pins tempting us to whip up a decadent desert! It's both funny and a bit sad...
How tempting to think we can all "have our cake and eat it too."
(maybe you can, but those days are gone for me!)

Yes! I always giggle the magazine covers that feature a huge cake and "exercises for a beach body inside!"
funny! The pinterest food pictures are the best! Have you discovered Zumba? It is the most fun way to exercise that Ive found yet.

I've read its all about balance. The truth is that it must be imbalances for me. I must do more exercise than I enjoy doing, and eat less of the yummy foods I want to eat. That imbalance will keep me healthy & fit. Balance will actually make be fat & off-balanced. Yes, it is ironic.
It's funny you mention this because I've been telling my friends that Pinterest makes me want equally to a) be skinny, and b) eat really fattening food. It's a constant struggle laid out in beautiful color images ;)
So funny and so true! I'll never look at my pinterest page the same again without thinking of this post. ha!
I hadn't noticed that, but now that you pointed it out, you're right...it's ridiculous.
Ha! I've totally noticed that!
Apparently I'd rather sit on my couch eating the pinterest cakes and just complain about my body rather than actually taking the advice of the workout pins.
Hahahaha! Truth! Preach. This is hilarious!
Ha ha nice catch!
haha! i have thought the same thing!
Yes,Pinterest is the ultimate paradox :) I still ♥ it though.
Boot camp workouts( 3x a week) are the ONLY thing that let me have my cake and eat it too! ( I just turned 56 BTW, and I didn't start Bootcamp until I was 52...)
I do pin desserts--but plan on using them for special occasions, unless they are healthy (as in fresh fruit...or low cal desserts)
Yep! I once read that food is the most over used anti-anxiety drug and exercise is the most under used anti-depressant. So true!
absolutely. it's some weird form of torture. Forcing you to pin between the delicious snickers brownie and the amazing abs and bum!
I guess it's everything in moderation, huh? America is not an easy country to stay slim, that's for sure. xo
Why, yes indeed! I found myself chuckling at the same thing when I was pinning healthy receipes and fitness routines - and then came across some yummy dessert recipes too! Cest la vie.
Ha! No Kidding! You are not going to have a "booty" like that if you eat anything with the words chocolate, caramel, and gooey in the title! Now excuse me while I go do some lunges and sit-ups!
OMG! You are cracking me up!!!!!!
