It's The Little Details Which Make A Home

After all the big projects are done, or even along the way to completing them, it's the little details brought into the house that make it a home. Passing through a room, an item catching your eye which brings back a memory or reminds you of something kind a person has done, these are the things - more than selecting the perfect cabinetry for your kitchen - which add to the enjoyment of a home, making it uniquely yours!

A few months a thank you from Mayme Baker arrived along with this beautiful ceramic cross by artist Barbara Biel...what a sweet gesture!

It makes me happy seeing it, along with so many other little treasures.

What treasures do you appreciate in your home?

I couldn't agree more. I truly believe it is the small personal touches that make a home.

So true! I can't wait to get the rest of my furniture in our new house so I can accessorize and make it more personal.

That's so very true - it's always the small personal touches which make a home individual and interesting.

Agreed. I have many little things I treasure around our home - shells and rocks we bring back from trips, photos, drawings my created when she was little, my parents old eyeglasses....so many treasures.

I have a Western painting that used to belong to my father. I gave it to him about 30 years ago for Father's Day. He hung it in his dining room. I would see it everytime I went to visit him. He always told me he loved the picture of the cowboys.
When he passed away a few years ago, I got it. I now have it hanging in our guest room. It reminds me of all the wonderful meals we shared together.

I completely agree. It's the books, the art and the little knick knacks...... fresh flowers :) that breathe true life into a home.

You are so right I have a few things that make me smile everytime I see them. First, pictures of my loved ones, Top Priority. I also have some glass bubble orbs that I love looking at, little vintage medicine bottles, Big letter P's on my walls, Kelly green chinoiserie pedestal that holds hand towels in my black and white bathroom. I love that my house makes me smile.
I just did a post today on wardrobe details. It is all in the details!!

I too have a few Barbara Biel crosses and hearts and love them. If I find something small that I like, I buy it. I never worry about where it's going to go. If you like it, you will find the perfect place to work it in!
