What You Spied Was Not What I Spied...

Funny, most of you spied the lampshade as something that would get a dose of color.
And while that is not what I had in mind...perhaps it will be next!

Instead I spied the bird cage.

While I can't afford to hang the Chiang Ming Dragon wallpaper I've been longing for,
I still love the colors, which work so well in my home.

So I pulled out some paints, mixed a pinkish coral and got to work.

An hour later I had this.

It works for me. I'm finding my attempts to bring in big doses of color just doesn't work well in my home. Recall my recent idea to paint my kitchen walls? YIKES. But little bits here and there in accessories and smaller pieces of furniture seems to be the way to go.

This small update of color also works really well with a little beauty that is on it's way to my home.
Can't wait to share what it is!!

OMG, it looks great!!!!! A lot better this color. This is funny. Remember in the email where I responded saying I had one that I was thinking of using a pretty coral or pink on?!?! Funny! Maybe I'll try turquoise instead?

I can't wait to see what is on its way to your house:)

I love that color. I really need to find a way to sneak a little pink in my house (without my husband noticing).

Janel, Great call on your part!! Love it! This is a wonderful example of how a pop of color can change the whole look. I was thinking three bright green apples would look great on the white tray where the brass birds are right now and an brass inspired Asian finial for the lamp would just top it off!! Have a wonderful week sweet friend,

I love the pop of pink!! You were so patient to hand paint, no spray paint for you! The color is perfect!

*** Dearest P*A*L, JANELL... You & I ARE pals after alllll this time, right??? Lawdy, I hope so (!!!), cuz you KNOW I would NEVER, EVER want to hurt your feelings!!!

...Buuuuut, not that it's IMPORTANT that "I" personally like it, but, well, it's just not WORKIN' for me, Sweets. I don't know EXACTLY why, other than I find it to be rather "abrasive", kind of like an interloper, if you know what I mean... (LOVE the color, but, maybe somewhere else is MY thought...)...

Still pals????

XOXO,
Linda

I have to be honest and say that I liked it the other color better. I hope you aren't offended for that's not what I intended.

I was right! Sort of, I did guess the lamp too but thought the birdcage, because that is something I would do!

Love it!! What if you covered the lamp shade in the Chiang Ming Dragon wallpaper? Too much? Might be a way to bring in the pattern at an affordable dose.

Hi Janell...just an idea for you why don't you use the
Chiang Ming Dragon wallpaper on the lampshade. I think it will really pull everything together!x

I love the color Janell, just beautiful.
I wanted to make sure you knew HGTV was using this picture from about a year ago of your space as an ad??? E-mail if you need a screen shot.

i agree with a few of the others and think you should cover the lampshade with the paper! might just finish it off and tie it all together.
