Train Ride To Vancouver, BC

We've just arrived back home from a trip up to Vancouver, BC via an eight hour train ride. Each way. I have to say the train time was great. There is something to be said about being together as a family in close proximity for a period of time - with no one rushing off to this or that activity - that is really nice! (Even with the presence of several electronics...)

Scenes speeding by until reaching the city.

Great views from the hotel...

...and delicious bagels for breakfast!

The weather wasn't great, but we got out and explored as much of the city as we could during our short stay.

A gorgeous craftsman structure in Stanley Park.

Art...

...and science.

I had fun seeing this, I'm a big Dyson fan!

All via public transportation of course. Would love such a convenient system near our home!

We've decided a return trip is a must, but next time during the summer months.

Vancouver is a beautiful city from the little I have seen. Such fun to take the train and explore with your family. It appears your son dresses like my boys... shorts, no matter the weather!

I feel like I should apologize for our "fabulous" weather. It's been SO rainy! Definitely come visit again when the sun is out! :) I was at Science World on Friday, that place is great!

That trip is on our "must do" list while we live up here in OR...but I'd like to do that in the summer.

I LOVE trains-it's such a cool way to travel. I used to do the DFW to Austin run to see friends all the time when we lived in the Lone Star state.

We just booked Crater Lake Lodge for our anniversary -in AUGUST! Can't believe how fast it sells out.

Our other "need-to" trip this year is the California redwood forests in May. C'mon, summer!

I went to Vancouver years ago and it is really beautiful. It must be a very scenic train ride there. Sounds fun.

Vancouver, BC is my home, all my life. So glad you had a good time here. It's the rainy season right now....no snow...just LOTS of rain and intermittent sun :) Hope you can come back again.....from beautiful British Columbia. :)

I was born and raised in North Vancouver. How I miss it! Life has now taken me elsewhere (most recently moving to Calgary from Vancouver Island). The winter weather is definately dreary, but I suppose that's what keeps it green and lush year round! A summer trip is a must. Granville Island, Stanely Park, Grouse Mountain, Whistler, Science Center.....so, so much to do and see! Oh, and don't forget to shop on Robson st =)

When I first moved to Vancouver the thing that took me the longest to overcome was my usual resistance to go out when it rains. I quickly learned that I'd be housebound:) A summer visit is a must. The best beaches everywhere around the city.

Nice weekend and nice pics! I love train rides. Recently, I took the train from Berlin to Frankfurt and I was able to use my laptop and do some work. it was the nicest office I've ever had! There's something about working while moving with beautiful country side to daydream to from time to time :) Btw, I'm a huge Dyson fan too! lol.

Thanks for sharing your trip here :)

So nice to have together time. So wish our public transportation system was better down in Southern California. I think I long for the London tube system. Thanks for sharing photos.

How exciting, would love to visit any part of BC. quite a few years ago we visited Windsor, London, and the Canadian side of the Niagra Falls we loved it it was a great family holiday. My husband is British and he could relate to so much there. Maybe we will retire there.

Today in Vancouver it is beautiful and sunny with a little chill in the air. That's one of the things I love about Vancouver just when you think you can't handle another day of rain out comes the sun and you feel like you're in heaven! Today I'm enjoying working in my garden, my bulbs are all about a half a foot tall. Guess we need all that rain for our early spring. Glad you and your family had a chance to visit! The rain maybe unpredictable but one thing you can count on loads of family fun.

oh vancouver. if only you were not a 6 hour flight away! love the city, and fall a little more in love with it every time we visit.
Next time make a stop over in Victoria on Vancouver Island. The waterfront is really spectacular.

We traveled to Vancouver and Seattle this summer from our home near Louisville, KY. Vancouver is a beautiful city. Rather than a hotel, we rented in a home in the Kitsilano, right within the neighborhood. We could walk over to the Granville Market and neighborhood restaurants. We went in late July, but it was still cool outside. You're brave for going in February!
