Don't You Just LOVE A Great Handbag?

Well, if so you are not alone. Handbags have risen to the position of top dog when it comes to sales of fashion accessories, outpacing even shoes. We enjoyed looking at this trend in the new issue of House of Fifty...

And of course we had to include a mention of the elusive and ultimate fashion status symbol, the Birkin Bag.

But guess what? Just in case you don't have several spare thousands laying around for such a purchase,
look at what I just came across?

A paper version, for a fraction of the cost.
{and by that I mean just a few hundred. seriously.}

What do you think, are you ready to take one home yourself?

The birkin is beautiful but definitely not worth the price, in my opinion.

yup, love me a good handbag!
Gosh - a Birkin - could you imagine? The paper one is awfully cute. Wouldn't work in rainy Ireland but would be perfect in sunny Dubai!

Love Birkins, but no, don't have the kind of cash. Actually just splurged on my first designer bag and I'm in love. Givenchy all the way!

I'm dreaming of a Birkin! I'm with Lisa, the paper version would not hold up well in rainy Seattle either!

The pictures make the Birkins seem so awesome...Maybe I should avoid actually seeing them in a store...my poor VISA...

The paper Birkin - how clever. I don't think it would last very long with all the things I carry in my bag!!

A few hundred; seriously? You didn't hear it from me but "a friend" got her powder blue Birkin for $50 on the street! Looks exactly like the real thing :)

Love the Birkin bag! I will take one in any color!

The Birkin is pretty spectacular but I cannot justify the $$! If I had that extra money lying around it would go to the orphans but that's just how I roll!

Lisa, I have to agree. Feel similar about a "fancy" car. In both cases I'd be worried it would just get wreaked and very nice options can be had at a fraction of the cost leaving funds left over for more important things, like being generous. Just my opinion. I think I learned this from a client turned friend of mine who was literally a billionaire, what could she not afford, but that wasn't the point. She put her money where it counted, and would say "just because I love it doesn't mean I have to have it."
