The other day I was standing in my master bathroom and was hit with a flash of inspiration.
This room and the master bedroom are my favorite rooms in the house, and the wall color is a big reason.
{Devine Color "Storm" with a wash of Devine Color "Rain"}
So, off I went to pick up a couple versions of the color, slightly lighter...for the kitchen. For some reason my home looks best dressed in dark paint, and I'm feeling like a little change without a big price tag.
Loving the "Foggy Day," it looks great with the granite, bringing out its gray tones.
I think I'll be heading out to get a gallon!

I have been loving darker paint colors recently and have been discovering their amazing effects - calming yet sophisticated and modern. This will be quite stunning.
Oh yes, I know I'm going to LOVE this!!! Can't wait to see!
Isn't it weird when that happens? I am drawn to colors with green tones in them. I recently stenciled my office wall with yellow and while it looked so cool, I hated the color. Power of paint and few hours later I am back to liking my office space.
I love waking up one morning and deciding to paint a room. So spontaneous and cool. I can't wait to see the results.
I love that color - and I agree I think it will look great against your cabinets/granite.
Check out my first blog giveaway!

Oh yeah! This is gonna be purdy.
Can't wait to see the "after" pictures!
Love that color. It looks great with the white subway and the cabs. It will make everything crisp and sleek.
That color is going to look amazing! I agree it's important to find out what mood fits your house looks best, and you've totally done it.
I love this....Bloggers are always changing something :) I also have that same granite. and white cabinets....Hmmmm.......I have had white walls for about 5 years now. Might be time for a change!!! Can't wait to see how yours turn out. Happy New Year Janell!
Love that you buck the trend and go for darker colors. Nice to see a change. Can't wait to see it all done! Happy 2012! liz
Love the color Foggy Day...in fact, I love all the colors on that SW color strip! Been eyeing one for my Master Bdrm Makeover.
Cant wait to see the results!
It goes great with your hardware, too, Janell! I'll be looking forward to seeing that change. I just got some sample swatches from Sherwin Williams for our sunroom. Hopefully, we can get that going in the next month.
Hi Janell-
You should checkout BM Storm, similar to your colors, used it in our master bedroom and love it!

Nice! If I painted my house dark - it would look dull, I don't have tall ceilings or large expansive windows or a white kitchen BUT I hope to re-paint as well, thinking light, a soft grey or warm white!
Always love what you come up with!
Very nice, I think it would be a great change. Could you share the paint color of your cabinets? Is it the same as your trim? All of my trim is bright white but I'm wanting to go a little creamier on my kitchen cabinets. Wondering if that would look ok.
Oh, I like it. It will be a pretty contrast.
ooh so moody looking! It will look fabulous!! Can't wait to see the new pictures!
I love dark paint as well. I think we're doing our kitchen in BM chelsea gray. The Foggy day looks great. Also, I think I have the same knobs and pulls as you do except in nickel. Really love them!
UGH....cannot wait to see this!! It's going to look amazing!!
You are totally right about the granite. It looks much less orangey and much more gray with that paint.
It looks very striking with your granite, Janell! That's a great color. I just painted our laundry room something very close to it. Isn't it amazing what a fresh coat of paint can do. Pure happiness!
The darker paint is gorgeous! I can't wait to see the final result.

I'm gradually turning all my rooms GRAY.
I bet your kitchen will be lovely...I was thinking of gray on my lower cabinets. I like that 'FOGGY-DAY' ...
hmmm...

Excited to see the final result. I love going dark but I usually only do a small area or maybe a wall in it.
This is a great color!! Love it!! Also love the lucite lamp on your counter! My bathroom is screaming for this lamp!
Oh, you have such a good eye! Foggy Day is going to look amazing. I can't wait to see the after! I am inspired to look at those colors for myself!
Have a great day
oooh! rich!
great choice!
Love the gray tone walls - we had our house repainted a few months ago and had lots of white and gray - love it!
love it! just painted my son's nursery a similar color - benjamin moore's chelsea gray - and it is so great!
I have lots of grey and white too. By the way, your backsplash is like mine--beveled and I don't think I've seen anyone else with it!
can't wait to see how it turns out!
Love it! Can't you hear me singing it? Oh I wish my husband would agree to a grey somewhere in the house. Guess I'll have to continue to wear the color if my walls can't!
So excited to see the room when it's all finished!
Megan
The colour looks very chic - looking forward to seeing the finished result

Can't wait to see what it looks like!
That is a gorgeous color! I can't wait to see it on all the walls!
I agree totally (coming from someone who is in the NW and just painted her dining room, living room, entry, a bedroom and hall a dark shade of gray and I'm making my way around the rest of the house!)
You'd think we'd want something brighter since it does get a bit gray outside but so many colors seem wrong here, even if I like them in other parts of the country. I can handle a pop of bright here and there, but then I have to bring it back around again with gray to balance it out or I feel like it looks silly.
I think it might be because our natural surroundings and homes here are different than in other parts of the country -- we might enjoy the coziness of being nestled perfectly into our environment! At least that is how I feel and what I always tell people. I'm more sensitive to my environment and how it feels than even how it looks.
Your home looks fabulous! :-)
I know this is a year (plus) later but you gave me inspiration to do beveled subway tile in my house (I have almost the exact same granite as you). I was searching tonight as my tile installer is coming tomorrow. My question is what color grout did you use? It looks fabulous! If you get a chance to reply thank you so much!
