Taking Advantage Of Sunny Skies

Hands down, in my opinion this is the best NW winter I've ever experienced. The skies have been sunny, so who cares if it is chilly! We've been taking advantage, getting out and exploring the sites Portland has to offer.

If you live in the area, or visit, you must find yourself in Washington Park. It's a large park with winding trails, amazingly situated just up the hill from the city center, and even better, surrounded by the most beautiful homes.

A little nature, a little "house hunting": Seriously, what could be better.

Old grand classics....

...and a rare new beauty.

And I love seeing what shots Isabella has captured, she is honing her eye to be sure.

A perfect start to the new year!

It's amazing what the sun can do for your psyche, isn't it? We've had a mild winter so far, and I'm very thankful, especially after the nastiness we had last year. Today is supposed to be in the 50's and sunny - unheard of here in the Midwest! But I will take it. :-)

Beautiful! I love "house hunting", especially on a clear blue day:).

And I really like your purse! It reminds me of one from Coach that isn't made anymore but I keep searching for a look alike.

Girl you look FIERCE in that picture! Isabella did a great job!

So, are you really house hunting?!

Yes, I'm crazy about my purse! I found it at Banana Republic probably 7 years ago and then never really used it. Then this fall pulled it out and a friend (whose style rocks) said how fabulous it was. Oh, it is? Cool, I've got my new bag for the season!

And as for the house hunting, I DREAM to live here someday! :)

Wow. It's all so lush and beautiful. Isabella really does have an eye. Such great photos. Good thing you do not live closer to me . . . the boots might show up missing!

You were very near me! *Someday* we must akwardly meet in "real life"! Washington Park is definitely one of my happy*places in PDX! The view of the city from the rose garden still takes my breath away!

I love Washington Park! My husband and I visit Portland (from Phoenix) once or twice a year. We like to start the morning at Ken's Bakery, and then go for a long walk around the arboretum. I crave tall trees and cloudy skies, just as you crave sunshine! Another Portland gem is Lindhurst Park, which is perfect for a post-dinner (at Ken's Pizzeria) stroll. It is wonderful to see people (and dogs!!) out enjoying their neighborhood. Nothing like it in Phoenix! (Can you tell we are big fans of Ken??)

It is a grand thing to have such a wonderful natural area within a city. My daughter lives right behind the "new beauty" house, pictured above. She loves it there. I'm farther out in Bethany, but love to explore up there.

I think people all over the country are enjoying this weather. I'm in Chicago and today it is 54 degrees! I literally cannot believe it is this warm during a Chicago January. I'm enjoying it while I can though because I'm sure the iceball will drop soon.

I've always felt the same way - cold days are no problem as long as the sun is shining! Love your purse. What a pretty area and I could so easily live there too! :)

Stop it!!!! I am from Beaverton and Washington Park is my old playground! Where NW collides with the West Hills and Washington Park - the zoo, Pittock? Is there anything better? I am stuck living in the Phoenix Suburbs and I don't know how I have done it for 11 years.

Oh, while I love sun, don't know how I'd do in Phoenix year around! But a trip in the winter would be fab!
