Now This Is A Kitchen That Can Handle Gray Walls!

After reading about my less than successful attempt at adding dark color to my kitchen walls, one reader sent me a link to Christopher Peacock's own kitchen, having recently been painted just such a color. I knew it was going to be great, I mean after all, his cabinetry company is amazing.

See for yourself...

As I suspected, after realizing my kitchen couldn't handle the color, it could if the cabinets ran to the ceiling...

...with a well thought out and beautifully designed layout, taking into consideration balance and symmetry. And some crown molding thrown in.

As soon as my kitchen has all those things (uh-huh) I'll be pulling out the dark paint again stat.

This is one of my favorite kitchens, and I adore the gray walls with the white cabinetry. I could look at their website over and over with their amazing craftsmanship!! Hope you find the perfect gray ~

Yes, validation! This looks almost identical to the color I am painting my kitchen. Hope it turns out half as nice.

Instead of the gray walls, which I agree, did not work visually. Would you consider a gray ceiling like Chassity's from Look Linger Love. Never would have considered it myself until I saw the finished pictures. Looks amazing!

Adore her kitchen, that is a great idea! Don't know if it will work in mine, until I get that crown molding, but its now on the list of ideas! Janell

Oh yes, raise the roof! errr, I mean raise the cabinets! Well not exactly raise the cabinets, but you get what I mean:)

That kitchen is nice with the darker wall color. But I'm curious as to if you would have to paint you family room as well if your kitchen was painted that dark color? Does your kitchen open up to the family room? I ask because I thought about painting my kitchen a lighter color... white, but one wall is part of my family room which I wanted to be a different color. Hmm, did I just change the subject? I think I did, lol!!!

Wow! Now that is an amazing kitchen! I'm sorry yours didn't work out. Repainting what you have just finished is misery!

Thank you for posting! I painted my kitchen black about a year ago and have felt weird about it ever since. I think it's the same issue as yours - cabinets that don't go to the ceiling. It does feel very squatty and strange in there. Thanks for solving my issue! Back to white I go!

He is the BEST in the business! The closest I'll ever get to a Christopher Peacock kitchen unfortunately (besides pictures of his work) is when I stroll thru his showroom at the Mart.... dreaming.

That is one stunning kitchen. I love the wall color with all of the white. I could cook up some mean blueberry pancakes in that kitchen. With mimosas to match the fabric!

Posted that kitchen pic to my inspiration board on pinterest just yesterday! Loving the gray and white. Since my cabinets do extend to the ceiling, I am hoping this combo will work for me...now I just need to strip the old wallpaper...UGH! Any tips on that?

I see what you mean about the dark on top making it "squat". Bummer! I love dark walls... Agreed, the cabinets going to the ceiling would help, or maybe bringing in some darker gray color lower? Like replacing all the counter tops hahaha! ;)

I have been a big fan of that kitchen. Mine actually has some similar features, including the way the side of the room with the sink looks. But, of course, my kitchen does not quite hit the marks that Christopher's does!

I've love that kitchen and wanted to remodel ours to look similar, but we didn't. And we went with a light gray for the walls, because the cabinets didn't run up to the ceiling :(
