A trend in design that I've immediately become a fan of is tile to the ceiling in kitchens!
Moroccan tile in a butler's pantry...
Interior Design by Tineke Triggs, Photography by Matthew Millman
...and a herringbone pattern in the adjoining kitchen.
Interior Designer Tineke Triggs predicts this is a trend we'll be seeing a lot more of in the near future. See "Celebrating the Heart of the Home" in the new issue of House of Fifty to learn more about the above spaces.
And have you seen this one? It has been making its way around Pinterest, and is by Palmer Weiss.
And another favorite, a kitchen embracing absolute simplicity is brought up several notches by tile covering an entire wall, by Angie Hranowsky.

Oh yes , I love it . In fact this is the plan in my new kitchen . I even removed and will be removing more cabinets on our window wall just so I can create this look , beautiful . Now choosing the tile is the hardest part .
Tile to the ceiling is really beautiful and those are gorgeous examples.
Absolutely love that look. Wish it was more budget friendly to do an entire wall:)!
I love this look. In bathrooms too. Sadly, my existing kitchen isn't laid out to do this type of thing. But in my dream kitchen...you know it!
Gorgeous, even done with a simple tile it is a high impact look!

Great feature choices! I would love a Moroccan tile anything in my kitchen! I love the look of tile to the ceiling.
I love this look..not only does it look great, it would be so easy to clean. I absolutely love the newest edition of house of fifty!
I LOVE this look! Too bad my ceilings are vaulted. That Palmer Weiss kitchen is dreamy for sure!
I too love this idea and look! A mini kitchen re-do is on my 2012 home goals list (stripping wallpaper and painting walls) but I am now considering adding tile instead! Thanks for the inspiration!
Love that first kitchen! I'd never thought about tile to the ceiling but it definitely works in these spaces.
Love it!! The Moroccan tile is gorgeous.
I love tile to the ceiling and did mini carrera marble herringbone tile in my kitchen - it adds so much drama!! I haven't posted my kitchen pics yet but plan to in the next week or two.
House of Fifty - Fantastic!!

I love this trend. I think it really makes a kitchen more cohesive. Designer Tommy Smythe has a kitchen featured in the February Issue of Canadian House and Home magazine where he tiled up to the ceiling on several walls in the kitchen/eating area. Looks terrific, but could get pricey!
So dreamy! The problem would be that I seems to love tile that even my backsplash can't afford!
Yes, as so many of you have brought up, it's a fabulous look that unfortunately would come with one fabulous bill, unless one used the most inexpensive of tile. :(

These kitchens are wonderful! White kitchens makes my heart skip a beat! Have a lovely weekend ahead, Kellie xx
It is really very beautiful and creative blogs. The pictures of Beautiful houses of Leeds are really extra ordinary. Good work by the blogger.

with this new trend ( tiles) hope one day they come out of something similar but more affordable price.
Thanks for sharing been planning in kitchen renovation.
I know when you posted a new trend that is for sure something that we will be seeing in the near future. :)
I love it, but it only seems to work with cabinets that are to ceiling or an empty wall like in the last photo. I would love to do this in my kitchen but my cabinets don't go to ceiling. I wonder if it would work if I just stopped the tile at the cabinet line? Hmmmm....
I cant wait for the day that I have a kitchen of my own that I can make pretty like these!
The Italian Calacatta Gold Backsplash looks outstanding...good work there.
Dear Sir/Madam,
I have the pleasure to brief you on our Data Visualization software
"Trend Compass".
TC is a new concept in viewing statistics & trends in an animated way
by displaying in one chart 5 axis (X, Y, Time, Bubble size & Bubble
color) instead of just the traditional X and Y axis. Discover trends
hidden in spreadsheets. It could be used in analysis, research,
presentation etc. In different business sectors, to name a few we
have Deutsche Bank, NBC Universal, RIM, Vanguard Institutional
Investor, Ipsos, Princeton University as our clients.
