Coming Tomorrow!

To celebrate the release of the Holiday issue of House of Fifty, coming tomorrow, we have teamed up with Joss & Main for a curated sales event on their site. The inspiration for the event is a striking guest bedroom design featured in the new issue, with lots of great finds allowing one to replicate the look.

If you aren't already a member, here is an invite from House of Fifty.
{And for House of Fifty readers, use code HOF1211 for $15 off your first purchase of $50 or more.}

Look for the curated event & the release of the House of Fifty holiday issue tomorrow!

Join House of Fifty at Joss & Main Next Tuesday!

Joss & Main recently invited me to curate a sales event on their fabulous site next Tuesday, to celebrate the release of the Holiday issue of House of Fifty!

And where did I get inspiration in selecting items to be showcased in the sale? I chose a striking bedroom design featured in the new issue, and found a wonderful collection of items that one could use to replicate the look of this room!

I'll preview some of my top picks next Monday, but in the meantime, if you aren't already a member of Joss & Main simply click here to become a member.

Halloween Decor: Simple & Chic

Holly from Life in the Fun Lane has put together a simple and chic look in her home for Halloween!

A ghostly chair, with just the perfect amount of ruffle.

That Was Easier Than I Thought...

So I finally got around to bringing the Expedite bookshelf home.

Before I could lose momentum, the unpacking and assembling began, with a glance at the directions. Have you ever built anything from Ikea? Am I the only one that finds their "text free" directions to be sometimes puzzling?

Well, luckily not this time around. Easy peasy, even Max pitched in.
{It's time to start teaching him how to build stuff...besides Lego!}

A movie in the background later we were done.

The next morning, complete and in place, ready to be filled!

But hey, don't think I've been busy refinishing chairs; these were brought up from the kitchen nook to see if I liked the style here. Shoot, I do.

This means I now have to follow through on my plans to refinish these four. As you see, I haven't made one ounce of progress since talking about the project here. Good thing I'm not going anywhere.

Coat Update

Color is all the rage this season in coats. After I discovered the unused JCrew gift card while organizing the piles of paper in the bonus room, my reward for completing the task was a trip to this store to see just how I could spend my newly found loot! On some color perhaps?

I didn't end up finding anything I just HAD to have, so my gift card is safe for another day. However, I did get inspiration on how to update my "in perfect condition" black JCrew coat purchased a few years ago.

(Which looks nearly identical to the above style being sold this season!)

Along with color, gold buttons are being seen everywhere...and this is something I can easily add to mine!
Luckily I just happened to have several left over from my fashion design days.

I love their "nearly too large" style, giving my "old" coat a fun new style for the season!

Nothing Says Home More Than This...

Nothing says "home" more than this...
and I guess it doesn't hurt that it is sitting on a Carrara Marble countertop.

Winning the Battle With My Paper Piles

When I talked to Pauline about writing this article for House of Fifty, I was also looking for personal advice!

Yes, my piles had gotten out of control.

But with all the newly acquired filing space brought into the bonus room through these cabinets,
I was ready to tackle the disaster.

What a laborious job, thankfully it was a team effort...

...with rewards! I discovered a lost gift card to JCrew. Good grief, this job even paid!

And after a couple sessions...

...everything had been sorted, labeled and filed. Who knew a filing job could be so satisfying!
A couple drawers for the household, one each for Isabella & Max, a few for business and even a spare!

And the bonus?

Newly freed up space that can house design supplies,
items that are currently making the master walk-in closet nearly inaccessible.

Oh, organizational happiness.

HOUSE RULES

To set the stage, these 'House Rules' would be fun lining an entry wall.

Nearly Done...& I Have Some Serious Catching Up To Do!!

Table of Contents...fun stuff!!

The Holiday issue of House of Fifty is in its final steps of completion. Thanks team!

Phew...and now that my plate is clear of this job, I can turn my attention back to my home for a few moments. Heading up to the bonus room now to push forward a couple projects there, and will have something to show next week.

Promises, promises...
