A couple weeks ago I posted this print and my friend Courtney promptly fired off an email inquiring if everything was alright. Or was I just being sappy. Ha, yes, I do tend to have a penchant for being sappy, though I do my best to control it.

Everything was fine, I was just celebrating! If you are a consultation in the technology field, or are married to, dating or know of someone in this line of work, you know that travel is a constant. That is, or was, my husband. Over all the years I've know him I've nearly followed him around the world, and once we had children, I dragged them along when I could. Do you have any idea how hard it is to get a passport photo of an infant, sitting up? To fly to Singapore with a 10 week old? Actually she was a doll and didn't cry once, simply amazing.
Well finally, after many many many years, and countless miles...
(And the perks of constant travel, which will be the only thing sorely missed: Does anyone remember this post of the shack we were set up in at one resort?!)
..he is home.
Working in the town we live in. A cause for celebration to be certain.
So yes, home is where the husband is. And now that doesn't mean jumping on a plane to follow.

I remember that post. I know it scared me.
So now he's home? All the time?
Under your feet? Asking you what you are doing?
Be careful what you wish for.
Mary, I love your comments! You cut to the chase...so far, so good! Janell
Mary's comment is so funny! I can only imagine how hard it must have been for you to be home with the kids while he was away. And how hard it was for the kids? I know that my husband being away at work for 10 hrs have my little ones anxious for his return home.
Enjoy!
My husband just started working from home too after many years of traveling. As long as he stays out of my way during the day, it will work just fine. So very happy for you!
Good for you! So hard when they're not home.
Andrea...that's wonderful! Luckily mine does still go to an office, I mean there is together time...and THEN there is together time!!!! Glad your husband is home! Janell
I remember that post. Glad your man is home. My hub works from home. He's in sales so he's not here at home all the time. Although when he is having an "office day" I enjoy having him around. He makes me coffee and some times we have lunch together!
aww Cheers to you and yours. Such a great thing to be together again!

Oh boy.....humm do I say I send my condolences or yah for you! Just kidding (well kind of)
My husband my darling dear husband has started being home a lot more, since we started building, yes like as in 3pm he pops in and bam hes back in again at 5 and is always around for a 9am breakfast! I being the independent person I am do need my alone time, from everyone, not only him, but kids, husband, parents, everyone!!!!!! Love him with all my heart but do think sometimes a little distance can make the heart grow fonder. That said it IS nice having him around just not every single minute because then it kind of cramps my style/my schedule...ya know? Guess thats what they invented secret doors and hiding spots for in houses, huh? LOL.....
Ha! Let me clarify, HE does GO to an office, thank goodness. I mean, I like him and all, but I DO love my time in the house all alone when I can completely concentrate without interruptions and get my work done quickly! :)

Janell, YAY for you & the kids! I TOTALLY get it from being married to an airline pilot and now local helicopter pilot. I think having lived the life of forever-away-husband I'm thankful he's home every day, as you are! Yes, travel perks were nice, but home perks are better!
Must be especially nice around the holidays this year. You had so much to celebrate at Thanksgiving time. Happy to hear I am not the only sappy one around!
Janell, I am so with you on this! Hubby and I have been married 20+ yrs, he has traveled the entire time..and to some pretty exotic places too and sometimes I have gone too! He works from home and most of my friends think it is so cool but they don't understand he is gone 80% of his time.....Crazy! I feel the same way when he is home life is good and Momma is not so crazy trying to raise 4 kids by herself!! Great post!
Fantastic! So happy for you both!
what a blessing to have your hubby "home". my husband and i have had lots of discussions about directions his career could possibly take, and we both try to avoid areas in which travel is a MUST. i am sure the FF miles and rewards points will be missed, but there is nothing like knowing that your sweetie will be home for all those games and recitals!
My husband is a pilot and gone quite a lot. Luckily I did not have to follow him! But sometimes when he is home for days...whoa....can be a little tough.
I love reading a good love story :)
My husband and I work together from home. He went from traveling and being gone 5 days a week, just home on weekends, to being home full time, all day, everyday with me. It was a bit of a transistion. I did feel a tad invaded, patciularly on Monday morning when I was used to getting him off to work and the kids off to school and enjoying the quiet. But after 6 yrs of working together from home I'd be lost if he weren't here during the days. That's not to say I don't need a little alone time, I schedule a lunch date with myself about once a week. I'm still pretty good company all on my own ;)
Oh that's great news Janell! This holiday season will definitely be a special one for you and your family. So happy for you!
I am so happy for you guys! Having your husband around for everyday things is the best!
I too have a husband that used to travel alot for work...at least a couple of nights a week. A position change this year has eliminated travel...which has been great for him. Travel gets old, first class and 4 star is still just an airplane ride and hotel bed!
That's amazing!! Hope you all have a Merry Christmas!!

That is so wonderful, Janell! I'm happy for you and your family. After 8 years my hubby is now working 30 minutes away from our home town! We did a commute situation for 8 years. Life is good!
This is good news! I am so happy for you and the kids. It's great to spend quality time as a family especially during the holiday season.

Awesome. So happy for you two! And glad everything's alright! I was a little worried when you posted that too! :)
I TOTALLY get this post... My husband is a consultant and now that I'm 9 months pregnant, I'm very apprehensive on how I'm going to handle all of his traveling. I guess I'll just take it a day at a time. I hope one day we'll be in your situation!
All the best with your soon to be expanded family! It will work out...one day at a time is the way to approach it. When Max was first born my husband was traveling to Boston each week...from Oregon. I had an early bedtime for the kids, and I followed immediately afterwards. Lots of structure and asking for help, with mom getting enough sleep made it work. Asking for help is hard, in retrospect I should have asked for more, so if I can give you any advice...
Janell
So glad to hear that your hubby is home now. It is not easy having a hubby that travels often or works long hours. My husband doesn't work far from home but has really been putting in a lot of hours and it can be really tough. Sometimes I think it's harder for him when he can't see our daughter before bed time. Have a great holiday Janell!
