One Year Ago
One year ago, I was sitting in this house wondering what was next.
While spending a few days with my family at a friend's beach house, I was trying to figure a way out of a slump brought on by a little run-in with "ageism".

I knew I had to find something to get excited about, for myself and my career, if I didn't want to buy into the message that my best days were behind me.
That is when the idea that led to the launch of House of Fifty began...

One year later, I'm thrilled. It was been such a rewarding venture to work on and I am so thankful to all the people who have become part of this project, and to the reception it has received from you. I think it is very fitting the "anniversary" of the idea for House of Fifty falls on the week of Thanksgiving!

Last week I sat here and cried as I watched Regis Philbin "move on" from his morning show. He began his morning show when he was 52 years old and he really didn't know that it was going to be a success until he was 57 years old. Then I was reading about the birth of your idea, a year ago, and I thought you are exactly right. There is still so much more to enjoy in life. It is all about keeping a positive attitude. Thank you for the wonderful reminder about looking towards our future and knowing that we can accomplish anything that we want to! Happy Thanksgiving!

I have been checking out your blog for about a year now and had to double check your comment about "49 being the new 29". I actually thought we were around the same age! I am 31 and just getting my feet wet with design in my own home and I have you to thank for the bulk of it! Your design vision in my eyes is clean, classy, fun, functional, and timeless. It is inspiring and above all ageless!
Being a wife, mom, blogger, and starting this new venture with "House of Fifty", all at 49, is something to applaud! I wish you the very best...not to mention I want your skincare regime secrets! Keep the posts coming!:)
