Yippee!!

Are there any other moms out there feeling just a bit of glee with the return of school?

Yes, I adore summer and lazy periods of simply hanging out with my kids, but it does require a lot of strategic multi-tasking and planning to get anything done. But now, with both kids in school for several hours? It is amazing what one can accomplish! I'd say it is practically joyful to be able to complete work quickly, get back to Pilates classes on a regular basis and run to the grocery store without hearing complaints: "I don't want to go get groceries...it is soooooo boring!"

I'm doing a happy dance.

{Since gifting my old camera to Isabella she is having a ball, taking photos....}

{...and going crazy with outrageous editing! Fun stuff.}

With all this time, I've completed liming the table, have even begun a new refinishing project and am busy working on the new issue of House of Fifty! I'll be posting updates on Friday.
Pin It!

I agree with your kids. I hate grocery shopping. I'd rather clean the house then grocery shop.

Try not to waste your precious free time reading blogs like I do. I've actually developed carpel tunnel from it.
My name is Mary & I'm addicted to blogs.

Funny! At first, I thought that was a photo of your daughter!

So funny! Refreshing to hear a bit of honesty. Who doesn't love the kids going to school...my daughter just started pre-school, it's only a couple of hours a day, but it does make this Mommy much happier. Liz

The whole time my kids were going back to school, so was I! I had to wait until they left home and had a career change before I got to be alone in my house. Can't wait to see all that you've completed!

Amazing how much you can accomplish without interruptions! Can't wait to see what you have been up to.

After seeing you use rub n buff I tried it as well on some hardware of a vintage dresser for my daughter's room. That is such an amazing product!

You're a multi-tasking queen at the worst of times - I can only imagine what you'll accomplish with no interruptions :)

As much as I love my 5 year old son, I am actually relieved when he goes to school for a couple of hours. I use these few hours of my previous time to take my daily nap and do some blog reading. I can totally relate to you when you said you were glad when the kids return to school, Janell! :)

Looking forward to see future projects from you. Like what the another reader who already mentioned, I also thought the person in the picture is you!

Have a great week, Janell!

Yes I will admit though I loooove summer, the idea that everyone is back on a legit "schedule" is pretty nice. It does give me a good chunk of time to get done what needs to get done (plenty) and not feel guilty. I am more than happy to have hung up my daytime chaffeur hat and now that shift begins prompty at 5!
Great picture!

Seriously. Now with one JUST starting preschool, we are only talking two hours of non-kid time, but already I have tons of to dos and ideas for projects. It's like the skies have cleared and I can be creative again! I just have to do it in fast motion to get it done.

I just need my last little chicken in preschool next year and then I am joining in!!!! ;)
PS- what color is your paint color? Is it dovetail???
LOVE IT!

PAINT: Sherwin Williams Quiver Tan, I have it through the main areas of the house. I love it as it is rich and warm, yet kind of complex, appearing to have gray undertones in some light, and green in others.

I send my husband to get the groceries - somehow I can turn a $100 shopping trip into $400 so he doesn't argue or complain. And they are right - it is painfully boring as I tagged along last week and was not allowed to put anything in the cart.

you crack me up. I'll have to try this strategy! Janell

I love it! Go have fun.
Isn't it weird how summers are both very fun but very tough (with kids)?
Enjoy your pilates classes & getting some quiet time grocery shopping =)

I've been following your blog for a while but I've never commented. I've always thought you have such a beautiful home but WOW this snapshot shows such a beautiful angle that I don't remember having seen before. WOW! Your home is so stunning, truly a dream home :)

Hey, Janell. Haven't commented in a while, but I've still been reading. First of all, tell Isabella that she ROCKS as a budding photographer! (Funny, when I first saw the picture, I was thinking, "How did Janell get that picture; did she ask her husband to take it?") Secondly, I agree with what another commenter said, you do an amazing amount even when juggling so much, can't imagine the turbo boost you must be employing now, LOL! Finally, this is my first year with both of my kiddos in school full day, and I have yet to spend one day wisely. Sigh. If you're ever in the area, I'd pay you to help me get organized and motivated. Hey, maybe a second (third, fourth...) career for you! :)
Love,

Hey, great to hear from you! Isabella is now hounding us all to pose for her...asked me to twirl around to get photos, she got a fun sequence!

Yes, I am enjoying catching up on work and finding a few moments for myself, then racing around to all the kids activities after school. Not many complaints here, it all goes to fast for that! Janell
