If practice makes perfect, I could use a bit more. But talking about HOF on TV last Friday was still fun!
House of Fifty....
...coming up...
...NEXT.
What?!! This is what I saw and heard while sitting in the green room, a couple minutes before I thought I was to TAPE a segment. So instead it's live, NEXT? So much for the thought if I mess up they'll just tape another go of it and make me sound good through the miracle of editing.
"Welcome Janell! So, tell me about House of Fifty!"
"................................................."
"psst...production, where did we find this guest!"
Ha, there is nothing stranger than watching yourself on TV, especially when the kids want to pause the recording at odd moments, capturing the strangest of facial expressions.
"Fine, that's how you want to play, it's stare down time girl."
But in reality I got through it without humiliating myself and host Kimberly Maus helped make it easy.
Here we are previewing some goodies coming up in the next issue (can't wait to share more!), including a couple favorite pillows from Kassapanola.
Thanks for having me Fox 12!

You did absolutely great - really impressed as I know it's not easy to talk coherently, even about your passion.
Best you didn't know it was live; it would only have added more pressure.
Congrats!!
You did a great job, Janell and look beautiful! You're a natural! I am looking forward to your November 1st issue.
I think you did great! So fun to see your personality after following your blog and reading House of Fifty.
YAY! You did great! That is so funny about your kids pausing the show at the weirdest moments, sounds like something we would do! We are our worst critic. I am so happy things are going so well for you!
I saw the clip and thought you nailed it. You are too hard on yourself! Congrats on the feature :)
You looked great - congratulations!

I usually don't watch that, but wanted to see you, so what did I think? You were GREAT!
So excited. At a coffee shop so I will wait until I get home to watch! Yahoo. And under a rock as well . . love Mandi's blog. Wow.
I'm surprised you two did not know of each other...I've read both of you from the very start. You both are always very creative....I love that. Great women....great projects.
Oh...I thought you did just fine on your first tv experience....excellent job! You are being too critical of yourself.
You're a natural, Janell. Love the interview and of course, love House of Fifty. Can't wait for the November 1st issue - know it will be fabulous!!
I've loved your blog for so long, obviously the TV world does too! (product I mean!!) You looked great, but we don't get that channel here in Aus - shame)!!!
You look great, as always, on your segment on your local news. I'm looking forward to the House of Fifty November 1 issue (which ironically is 2 days after my 50th). Katharine
How scary to find out at the last minute that it was live instead of taped! Although I guess that cut down on some jitters you would have been feeling before that day, if you KNEW it was going to be live all along. BTW, you look great! I would have guessed 40, maybe, but definitely not 50! Also, it was intriguing to me as a reader to see you animated and to hear your voice, rather than just reading your words. Great job!
SO cute! Congrats Janell.
Wow! How fun was that?? Congratulations Janell! You inspire my late 40's bones!! You deserve it, really.
