The end of summer has arrived and I'm a bit sad. It is my favorite time of year, though this time around the beautiful sunny days and warm evenings I associate with the season only visited us sporadically in the NW. So, as I posted earlier, we headed to Texas for a last minute dose of heat and sun before fall and school returned.
I couldn't have been happier, temps were the hottest of the year hitting blazing 108 on one of the days...but that is just perfect in my mind when one is lounging by and in a pool!
Lots of time spent in jumping practice...
...along with refreshing drinks after swims and evening movies at the pool.
{photos by Isabella...}
Isabella recently asked if she could have my old camera and has been busy honing her eye...
...and her skill as a member of the paparazzi.
A final session of jumping practice...
...and then it is goodbye summer.

Hi Janell!
I do love Summer vacations with the family ~ but I am excited about cooler weather to wear my jeans and boots :) !!
xoxo
Great pictures.....and looks like you are at the right spot! The pool is the only place to be when its that hot..wow 108!! I too am sad to say goodbye to summer but trying to concentrate on the good things that fall brings, like beautiful clothes and crisp fall mornings!
Cute photos! I love family getaways! I wish my kiddos would go back this late to school as when I was younger. We are already dealing with tests and homework for 2 weeks! Urgh..but I love Fall fashion and college football games.
Enjoy your Labor Day... do more of nothing for one more day!

Loving the photos Isabella! I too am always sad when summer ends, its my favorite time of year, by far, as well!
They say if you don't like the weather in Texas, just wait a minute! I woke up to 68 degrees this morning, and the high for the whole week is in the 80's. I'm glad you enjoyed your visit and the heat (I think you were the only one!) Isabella's pictures are beautiful, and she clearly is having a great time being creative. That's what it's all about!!
I would love to know where you are staying. We are moving to Texas next month and would love an insider tip! Looks wonderful! 108* is the only temp that gets me in the pool!
What a way to end the summer! Love your jumper - I've got one of those ;) Enjoy your day!
Great pics! I love that Isabella is practising her paparazzi skills.
I've always been sad when summer comes to an end and this year is the first time I've wanted winter to arrive - for cooler temps in Dubai and getting outside to enjoy what summer is really like everywhere else :)
You havn't had much of a summer and ours has been way too hot and toooooooo long. Looks like you guys found the best spot to enjoy. Gorgeous pics. Hugs, Marty
Glad you enjoyed your stay here...thanks for taking the heat back with you. It may be nice for a weekend, but not 68 days! today we're in the 80s, I'm practically giddy!!!!
and you are one seriously hot mama!!
Janell what amazing photographs!! I can see why you don't want summer to end!
I am ready however, and of course we will still have plenty of hot summer-like days!
Enjoy the weekend.

Say it isn't so. I am not okay with saying goodbye to summer. Isabella might have a future in photography . . . or working for TMZ! Looks like a great trip.
Also would love to know where you stayed at during this fun family getaway!
That looks like a wonderful family summer vacation! The photos are amazing I think Isabella has a future in professional photography. She's very talented. Hope you're having a good Labor Day, Janell.
♥ TX!I lived in Plano for twenty years-YEAH for heat! Here in the high desert, it's great today-90.
While it may be Labor Day-and I return to school/work tomorrow- this quote sums it all up for me, both literally and figuratively :
"In the depth of winter I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer..." Albert Camus
So funny...I have a ton of photos of my son doing the same pool jumps. Real treasures!

So sad that summer is over, but it looks like you had a great time!
It's always a bit depressing when summer comes to an end and the grueling 6am mornings start! Particularly since I like to work late in to the night... What a fun giant pool!!
Lovely post and great pics. I was a bittersweet ending of summer for us too. But I just love fall and am ready for the cool, crisp air and beautiful trees!
I live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and love the hot weather. Many people here complain throughout the Summer but I eat it up.....in the pool of course! Glad you enjoyed your stay in the Lone Star State!
I am with you...I love summer...but 108 is pushing it! Looks like your daughter is going to be quite talented....her photography skills are looking good.
Where do you go in Texas? That looks like a great place to go. Didn't you go there recently and do you have family nearby? I love that Isabella is having fun with your old camera too. Katharine
Please tell us where you stayed. I live in Houston and love to try new places. I know it's not the Hill Country Hyatt in San Antonio, but do tell, looks awesome!
It is the JW Marriott in the hill country...we have friends in the area and have been back a couple times to just chill with them. I enjoy the spot! Janell
