Hi Janell-
Love your second issue. So much yummy color, inspiration, and great articles. I especially enjoyed your take on Pilates. It is the best - I have a Reformer and have been doing Pilates 3x a week for the past 15 years. I can honestly say - it is the best exercise EVER!!! It keeps me long, lean, and super flexible.

I am looking forward to issue #3.
My best- Diane

Hi Janelle: I am a new follower and was so impressed with your magazine - kudos to you as I am in your age group and sometimes feel left behind by all these young, ambitious bloggers! I started blogging about 3 years ago and it is still my obsessive hobby!! I am a designer and work in a kitchen/bath showroom while trying to work creatively on the side...its a challenge - thank you for your inpsiration! ;-)

It's gorgeous - not only does it look stunning, but the content is intelligent and thoughtful too.
If House of Fifty were a woman, I'd be very jealous!!

Ya know...reading your editorial made me feel so proud for you. You truly elicit the verve and energy of a fifty year old today. I'm one of those too! But at times feel not so energetic.

Kudos girl...keep killin' it!

Yay! I finally get to sit down tonight and dig through it. Can't wait!!!

Janell, Congrats on another fabulous contributor and an amazing second issue...I know I may be a bit biased, b/c you all let me contribute a little bit to this one, but really, still enjoying issue two! What a smart and stylish read! Beyond thrilled with the whole experience of contributing and enjoying as a reader! Thanks so much for BOTH!

Janell,

I am on vacation and trying very hard to step away from the computer. But the latest issue of House Of Fifty pulled me in and I have been reading (not glancing through!) every single page!!!! So much meat, Janell! I am impressed. This is the first on-line magazine that I know of which is like a real shelter magazine. I walk away inspired and equipped with a ton of new and great information.

5 stars my friend - to you and your team! Very nicely put together.

Great job on this issue! Very impressive! I love to see all the familiar names and faces from around blogland. It's almost as if my "friends" wrote this magazine.

I think one of the things I loved most was what you said in your intro-- that you realized that at your age you'd have to make your own opportunities. That was really powerful for me (heading for the big 4-0). Love your site and your magazine.

Janell @ Isabella and Max said...

Brynn,
Thank you! You know I didn't think this (that I would simply have to recreate my own opportunity) until last fall when the prospects of an exciting opportunity was stopped in its tracks when they found out my age. I was truly stunned and it was tremendously discouraging. It wasn't until the idea of launching HOF came about did I start to feel myself and hopeful again. Enjoy turning 40, it can be a great time! Janell

Well, I think you're a gorgeous, vibrant, and obviously creative woman (I mean, if Pottery Barn is stealing your ideas, you must be relevant) so it's their loss! I wish we valued people for their age the way we do furniture.... Thanks for the encouragement and keep up the inspiring work!
