Not A Big Surprise & Today I'm At Splendid Willow!

Today I'm at Splendid Willow, participating in Monika's 2 Cents series. Check it out and Mon...one of these days! {Every time she comes to Portland I'm out of town, so I'm thinking I just may hit the road to Seattle come this fall for a visit!}

And on the Bonus Room Front: No, I'm not surprised. My inbox is not flooded with inquires about my husband's piece of furniture. I may be reduced to posting it for free. Anything, if someone would just PLEASE haul it away for me.

In the meantime, I did come up with a possible solution to fill the area in its place. We are in desperate need of filing space in our home, with two people running businesses from home, personal paperwork and then the two kids! So I found the below filing cabinet and four will just fit in, snugly in a row. (Whereas all the single, wider options I found are 1 1/2 inches too wide at their standard 60 inches.)

Oh well. Topped with a butcher block countertop in walnut, I'm thinking this will not only be a functional solution, but stylish for a decent price.
But before I start ordering, I'm off to edit the Craigslist posting: Free. Any takers?

  1. I think if you list your piece as Mid-Century Modern & put a high price tag on it, someone will snatch it up.

  9. Your idea of connecting the filing cabinets with a walnut top is going to be fabulous! I love that it will create a countertop space for you. Definitely go with walnut - it's so beautiful and smells so great - my husband makes custom furnishings and its our favourite material to use.

  10. I agree, it is a little odd in an adult space, but what if you have a friend with a young boy who loves space and were to paint it like a space ship?! Haha, that's the only reuse I could think up, but you know, it could turn out really funky and cool and maybe encourage a boy to sit at his desk and do homework :)

  11. I think it would work in a funky kid's space. I don't suppose you are in Ohio?

  12. I tried to give something away on Craigslist and no one would take it. So I asked $25 for it thinking I could go down to whatever anyone offered and I was able to unload it for $25. If it's free, they figure it has no value so you just have to give it value and all of a sudden, someone wants it.
