Inspired By A Riot Of Color

One of the highlights of the trip to NYC was having the opportunity to visit the Kravet showroom, and the next day their offices in another part of town.

A riot of color and pattern in a new installation of Lilly Pulitzer at the showroom.

And the fabrics and trim seen at the Kravet offices.

Not that I needed a push. But I've been craving more color in my home.

You don't even want to know the comments that ensued upon opening this can of paint, over the past weekend. But I figure if I don't get a raised eyebrow or two I'm not pushing myself hard enough. And don't worry, there is more to this plan than meets the eye.

And do you notice the mirror in the corner of the above picture?
That is a project I'll share more about tomorrow.

While I wait for more brass chain to arrive, to hang the fixture in the dining room, I'd thought I do a quick little update to the powder bathroom. This is a room which has not gotten one ounce of attention to date. I've decided to hang some of the artwork I recently acquired, redo the lighting, work with the existing mirror and do something happy and bright with the walls. It's a small space, I think I can get away with it.

I know, I sense you are as worried as my family. But trust me, something good will happen.

I've been obsessed with orange lately. Never really liked it before? I'm in the middle of a makeover of my daughter's room. Turquoise walls with orange and apple green accents. Can't wait to see your room and the finished chandelier. Love the paint color!

So this amuses me, the only people to question my choices are my own family?! Too funny, I'm going to read them all these comments! Janell

Family always second guess you as they know you best! However, I fully doubt that your choice would be so heinous that it would cause the world to end.....

On a side note, how tall are your ceilings? I have a similar light fixture as you do in your hallway and am curious....

I have no doubt you'll be able to transform the powder room into a cool space -- Me I'd be afraid of that color!! It looks salmon on my pc screen!

I can't imagine raising an eyebrow to one of your ideas . . you never go wrong. Any chance it's a fabric inspired paint job??

I'm embracing bursts of color lately too. My fav steal of a deal is the $75 lampshade that I scored for $5! I'll be blogging about that soon.

I can't say I would have chosen this colour but I trust your good taste implicitly so I am expecting to be blown away by the room. It's good bloggers like you that push me out of my comfort zone.

Your family shouldn't be worried. They know that you can create magic with any color. They are just used to the subdued greys and white and stuff. Looks like a fun project. Have fun!!! Katharine

Lemme guess...is that color Coral Reef by Sherwin Williams? I used that color last year in a client's office. Looking forward to your colorful updates!
