I grew up with forsythia in our backyard, to me they are the quintessential symbol of spring. With the rain outside and your beautiful yellow branches to keep you company, your bench project should be done in no time. Best of luck.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for telling me what these blooms are. I'm an Australian girl and I've never seen these grown or sold here but have admired them for ages. I think the first time I became aware of them was via the TV show 'Frasier' where there was always a bunch [me thinks fakes] in his living room.
They are glorious bursts of sunshine and I love the way that you've presented them here Jane.
Where we live in delhi, the roads are lined with laburnum trees..they flower when it gets a little warmer, closer to summer and then the only color we'll see is yellow..much like your beautiful forsythia! xx meenal
What a gorgeous pop of colour on your table! I used to live in a lovely apartment on a lake and the property was surrounded by forsythia bushes. The landlady used to clip big bunches and bring them to me. Between those lovely yellow blooms and their huge magnolia tree outside my window, spring was a very special time in that apartment! :)
Janell, I love that combination of the yellow forsythia against your gray wall - so pretty! My new house has a row of forsythia out front - can't wait for them to bloom!
I love blooming spring trees and bushes. They make such a grand statement just being themselves! And when we bring them inside, it's just amazing what energy they bring to a space. (The bench is looking good!)
With a setting as gorgeous as that one, I think dried up branches would look exquisite but they do look stunning and the yellow adds such pop and happiness into a room. Love your gray room....so into that color these days. Beautiful pics..thanks for sharing!
Amazing what a bright punch of Mother Nature does for you home and your mood, isn't it? I'm enjoying my daffodils on my desk for the same reason (willing my little spring tulips to open). :-)
I love love forsythia branches, we don't have any in our area, not sure if it can take the heat or not. It is just around the corner for you, I am sure. Come on over to my blog I will give you a great dose of Spring and smiles, Kathysue
The paint color is Sherwin Williams Quiver Tan, I think the last image portrays the color most accurately. It is a nice warm tan that has gray undertones.
Beautiful!!! The flowers and the bench!! Love the legs :) (on the bench) :) and I love the few little yellow flowers floating around in the water!! Very pretty

Being able to grab flowers from a friend's/relative's garden is the best (can't wait for my mom's peonies this Summer!)

I love your pop of yeelow against the grey walls.
Ugh, you have rain too? It is so dreary here in Vancouver. Not only is it raining but it is cold as well! Sigh...need to cut me some forsythia!
I just clipped some cherry blossom branches from our yard and love how they cheer me up. Now I'm waiting for the peonies.
Beautiful! I love the yellow and how it really freshens up a room! Reminds me I need to go get new flowers at the market today (:
I love the color of your walls. What color is it and is it more of a beige or gray? Thank you!

Those are beautiful! Such a bright cheery color!
Girl, take the blooms off the stems where they meet the water. They'll last much longer! So pretty.
Great tip Anne!! Done! :) Janell
