It's That Time Of Year...Time To Start Dreaming About A Move!

Is anyone else afflicted with this disease? Don't get me wrong, I love our home and know we are fortunate to enjoy living here. But...I'm a girl who loves to move every so often, embracing a new challenge and a new adventure! And if we were to move and I could choose the location of this new home, it would definitely be in the city! While I grew up in one of the more remote places one can in this country, once I left home I fled to the cities of NYC, Chicago and San Francisco. There is truly nothing better (in my opinion) than being able to live your life for days without getting into the car, with shops, businesses and restaurants just around the corner.

Of course, city living can be a complete and total budget buster, starting not only with the cost of the home, but education costs, higher taxes and insurance...the list could go on and on. So, for now, I'm simply enjoying a little dream house hunting. To see more of the remarkable city homes that have caught my eye, read this week's Ideabook on Houzz.

Have the best weekend! Janell

  2. I think a townhouse in a city WITH A GARAGE would be terrific (and a backyard, of course!)

  3. Is Naperville city enough for you?

I need you to move here so you can show me how to do all your DIY projects. Especially the sewing ones.

  9. Hi Janell
I smiled after reading your first sentence as I am 98% sure I will be moving soon. Every job my husband looks at is out of state. I enjoy going to the real estate sites for each company's town to see what is available. I find it very exciting. I live in the perfect house and neighborhood for raising kids, but now they are grown and I am looking forward to creating the perfect home for the rest of my life now. I am very ready for it, plus it will give me plenty to blog about.

    My best- Diane

  10. What does it say about us that love to move into a new house every few years? I guess it's because we love to start the next great project. If we (EVER) get this house sold I for one am looking forward to living smack-dab downtown in Aberdeen Scotland; no car, and everything within a brisk walk away. My health will thank me later! Happy Easter to you and your whole family Janell. It sounds like a glorious OR day today?!!

  14. Completely drooling over that first San Francisco home and the Pacific Heights Townhome. WOW!!!! Moving in. I am famous for announcing that we are moving . . about every six months. I am addicted to looking at homes. But then reality hits and I settle back into loving where we are. {for another six months!}

  15. Ha! When I came home last night my husband had finished a bunch of projects and said to me "you know what that means, almost time to move". We have moved to 3 different houses since having kids, and everytime we get it to where we like it we decide to sell and find a new project. Except I think I don't have the energy for a move anytime soon.
We plan on moving back to the city once the kids move out. got like 14more years til then

  17. I'm in the process of moving from VA to CA...all of this packing is driving me nuts! That, and I don't know where I'll be living- I'm headed to temporary housing.
I'll be excited once I'm finally there though!
And I'd love to be headed to that victorian- beautiful!

  18. I definitely suffer from wanderlust. The idea that my younger two children might grow up entirely in this one house is weird to me, although it is almost certain.

  19. Timely, Janell! I just moved into a townhome in Portland, where we can walk to everything, and do. I became a real estate broker to temper my lust for other houses and moving. I can tell you I loved this move. It was exciting to choose what to bring, and how to arrange our new home.
The schools are great in our new 'hood, Janell. I'd love to have you as a neighbor, and I think we could find you a house pretty close to this fabulous San Francisco Victorian.

  21. I'm another city girl living in the burbs while the kids grow. As they're getting older, we spend more and more time in the city and I believe I've managed to turn them into city folk as well. Now just waiting for the day they fly the coop and we're back to the big city.

  23. Funny, I have had the itch to move lately and have been daydreaming of moving to SF or NYC!!!!

  24. I'm chuckling...first I thought you were moving! But for me, after moving into our forever house 9 months ago - I AM DONE MOVING! It was our 6th move in 8yrs. And I - like you - always dreamed of moving to another house, another city or country, even when I was a kid I wanted to move. We're pushing 50 and I'm SO glad I finally feel settled. I have no desire to even look at houses online or driving around. I used to spend (waste!)lots of time doing that. I did NYC, SF, mountains, beach - no more desires and totally content! Sorry for the ramble! LOL
