I Live With Some Fanatical Sports Fans

I'm not a huge sports fan, but my "boys" are...

Last night was the first home game ever, for the new sports team in Portland, the Portland Timbers.

We'll be seeing more of this craziness around our house in the next months, my boys are the proud owners of season tickets with seats in the Timber's Army section of the stadium. Pure Insanity. And they fit right in.

Meanwhile, Isabella and I enjoyed a nice dry evening at home. Confession time, however. At one point we did turn on the game to see what the boys were up to and got sucked in. When we realized this we looked at each other and asked, what on earth are we doing?! Watching a soccer game and enjoying it?! Stop the madness...

Shame on you both, Janell!!!

By the way, I really love how your table/chair/bench combo is getting on. It's looking rather Belgian-esque, if I may so.

....in a good way!!

Those are great photos! Max is such a cutie! I'd be where you were...at home doing something else. I'm not a huge sports person either. Were you able to spot your husband and Max in the crowd on TV? Good father/son bonding!

P.S. Good mother/daughter bonding, too!

Hi!

Finally in Portland and my kitchen cabinets are being painted next week! Ended up not contacting your painter as my contractor suggested his painter. I am really excited. Funny - my daughter is a big soccer player and looks forward to going to many Timbers games! ALSO - I have those exact "X" back chairs from Restoration Hardware in my dining room (well, right now they are in a storage unit somewhere between Minnesota and Oregon) but I LOVE them! I have had them for about 2 years and they are comfortable and have really held up well. I love the look!

Have a fabulous day!

This is too funny!!!! Love your new dining room chairs. I was afraid after the debacle of the table, you were getting ready for another big redo of something brand new. I'm the same way...if something isn't quite right I have to figure out a way to make it perfect. Drives my friends and family nuts.

It sounds like things at our house, especially now that Vancouver is in the hockey playoffs. My daughter and I are usually crafting something while the guys are screaming at the tv.

Great idea Patricia! I actually do enjoy attending a game once in awhile, I have to, I married a true soccer fanatic! There are bonuses, we did attend World Cup in France before kids. A month in France with a little soccer thrown in, now that is something I handled quite nicely.

Oh, those are so cute. I am married to a football fanatic so I understand the madness . . . my hubby tried to get my daughter to take a Steelers "Terrible Towel" to school to share for "T" day. She wasn't having it!

I totally understand! My husband was chanting "When I root, I root for the Timbers" all night long! :) Xo, Katie

I thought the same thing when my husband bought 2 season tickets for the Seattle Sounders 3 years ago, but my kids were young so I went to the first game and now I'm hooked! I don't miss a game, it is that fun:) So now it is our date night, LOL!

My husband is a big soccer fan, plays every Saturday, and of course our son is following in his footsteps. Sloan and I have actually started going to the local MLS games and really like them! We haven't made it to the face painting stage yet tho. ;)

Oh, love the colored lampshades...think it's possible to DIY the gold metallic on the inside?

What a great dad and son bonding. Truly like father like son. I like their great enthusiasm for sports specially soccer. I understand how you feel when you seemed to be into the game. Soccer game is simply irresistible specially if you're watching it with your family or a bunch of friends. You simply get carried away.
