An Easy Way To Lend A Helping Hand

Yesterday my husband showed me this t-shirt he wanted to order, and I thought the design was pretty cool. Then he told me that 100% of the proceeds goes to Salvation Army's relief fund for Japan.

My next thought was to write a post about this way to help, but I wanted to know exactly what amount of the $20 was designated as "proceeds". After writing a quick email we heard back right away. Thanks to the support of a donor, who is covering the production costs, the entire $20 goes to support Salvation Army's relief efforts in Japan. This is impressive! The t-shirt can be ordered here.

Salvation Army also has made it possible to donate by texting the words "Japan" or "Quake" to 80888 to make a $10 donation, or make a donation via their website here.

The Red Cross also offers this option, text "Redcross" to 90999 to donate $10 as well, or visit their website to make other donations.

The Salvation Army are amazing. They're always one of the first on the ground in a disaster area. And they're so incredibly efficient. (Check them out on Charity Navigator.) That's why we're regular donors. Great post. Great t-shirt. Great cause. Thanks for posting!

thanks for posting about this. My husband was there for the quake, but in Tokyo. It was a rough few days, but we just got him home. It was hard for him to leave because he wished there was a way to help. this and many other organizations will need all our support for the wonderful people of Japan.

Yes, my sister in law and nephews were stuck in Tokyo. Can you imagine my worry when I heard the news???? Good thing for facebook. She has been updating us. My brother in law is out to sea so he wasn't able to be there with her. She says that she can't sleep at night because of the thought of something going wrong. Oh I just feel awful.

Great ways to lend a hand. Thanks for posting this Janell. I don't know what I would have done if something would have happened to her and my nephews...

Hi Janell,
Thanks for posting this. I was curious what the shirt reads, so I went to their website. For anyone else who is wondering:

The Japanese Kanji on the shirt translates to "Save World Army"

This is from the website link on this post. Our thoughts are with the Japanese people and others affected by this tragedy.

I am big fun of your blog but never post message.

Today , I have to post the message to say Thank you sooooo much post the way to help Japan !!!

I am Japanese and living in Fl. I have all my family and friends in tokyo. Luckly all of them are safe. But all images and reports from Japan break my heart so much.

I cant imagine how hard people feel who saw their family was wash away by tsunami in front of them and lost everything.

But seeing all the help from all over the world , I really really appreciated.

Thank you sooooooo much your help !!

Thank you for posting this, Janell. Such a devastating situation. My prayers go out to everyone in Japan. Japan holds a very special place in my husband's heart as he spent the first 18 years of his life living there. I'm off to order a shirt now!

Thank you for posting this. I woke up this am to update my Facebook page and it's impossible to write about design when people are suffering like this. Posted about help options. Just shared your post as well.

I ordered one last night and felt good about it. Plus it was the small push my family needed to look into making a bigger donation to help Japan.
