A Solution Is Found!

Lucky me! Help came over, not only bringing me this adorable hyacinth for Valentine's Day, but also a collection of furniture waxes. We tested away, with Suzi demonstrating what techniques have worked for her, helping me analyze why the previous wax had left a white residue in the cervices of the wood grain.

"Table dandruff" after applying Howard's furniture wax...

...and after rubbing Briwax over the area.

When we applied Briwax with steel wool over the areas I had previously applied Howard's, the white residue came away with some rubbing. This is probably due to Briwax containing toluene, so definitely a less pleasant product to use, but effective. I've ordered my can (oops, the table is huge, perhaps I should have ordered two) and I do believe a solution has been found.

In the meantime, Happy Valentine's Day...and thanks Suzi, for taking the time to come over and help me figure out how to complete this table transformation!

What a nice table! mine is a lot rustic than yours and have lots of stains. I think I'll try briwax, do you apply it with a cloth ? also did you order it on line ?
thanks so much, i love your blog !

Marcela,
I did buy it online, just googled "briwax" and found a place to order it from. Also, I applied it and buffed it with steel wool. Worked great! Janell
