Random Acts Of Kindness Week...Take A Daily Challenge!

Lately I've been giving more thought to the little things I can do here and there that will be perhaps have a positive impact on another person. It is amazing how sometimes a gesture, that can seem simple and small, can be large for someone else.

Random Acts of Kindness Week - Feb 14th - 20th

This week Random Acts of Kindness is hosting a Extreme Kindness Challenge

"For seven days during RAK Week we invite you to take the Extreme Kindness Challenges. We will suggest a new Act of Kindness each day. Choose a time when it works for you to do the Act of Kindness, but be sure to do it at least once each day for seven days. If you don't want to do our idea but instead decide to do a challenge of your own, that counts too! Our mission is to inspire you to act and share. We know that act of Kindness is our Ticket to a Kinder World!"

Today's challenge is to smile at ten strangers. Is this something you could do?

I will try your challenge. Being from New York the truth is I rarely make eye contact with strangers. This should be interesting.

This is an easy one. My friends even call me "Smiley".

I'll take your challenge today Janell. I also added your post to my year-long linky party about "Changing the World One Blog at a Time". (Hope you don't mind!) Here's the link: http://michellelunt.blogspot.com/2011/02/200-followers-wahoo-celebration-time.html

Warmly, Michelle

Janell,
I think this is a great idea. I have been trying to do this so much more. I fell like people are forgetting the easy things that make such a huge impression! Great job!

This is something I'm going to make an effort to do today. I don't smile as much as I should. Great idea!

That's a challenge I'd love to take! But smiling at strangers every day is just how we roll down here. ;) (see, that was a smile and a wink!)

Such a wonderful idea. I call kindness sheltering. A simple act of kindness can make a huge difference in another's life. I'll be with you each day.

True incident: A small Eskimo girl was taken back to the village one summer to learn more of their culture. About 3 days after returning to the big city in the Fall, she asked her mother, "Why doesn't anyone here smile?"

How great! I'll do it (: I just hosted a Random Acts of Kindness link party on my blog (along with a few other bloggers) in January and it was so fun to do kind things anonymously!

What a wonderful idea, Janell. I'm sure doing something 7 days in a row would be a nice way to start a habit of it too.

At my (southern) university we had a speaking tradition and you were expected to speak to/acknowledge anyone you passed on campus. It has stuck with me to this day...usually in the form of a smile. So, this one will be easy. It is amazing how far a small gesture can go to making someone's day better, isn't it?

* How lovely, Janell~ Annnd, it's "easy-peasy" too, as it's the FIRST PIECE of "JEWELRY" I put on everyday!

* I'm thrilled you suggested it~~~ seems nowadays we walk amongst people with heads down, who are buried in "invisible conversation", thru IPODs, etc!

Big hugs,

I'm up for your challenge, even being sick. I'm going to suck it up and smile!

When we lived in London, nobody ever smiled at each other. It was one of the things that I instantly LOVED about living somewhere so much smaller. Everyone says Good Morning as they pass and smiles.

I forget not to do it when I go into Lodnon. Probably people think I'm a bit weird as I beam at them!!
