This Week's Ideabook On Houzz: Bedrooms With Seating Areas

I have just completed the finishing touches on our Master Bedroom Redesign, look for photos next week. One of my favorite changes in the room was how removing a large armoire, that had housed an old TV, made room to bring in a beautiful settee for seating. It has already proven to be a popular spot for all members of the family. (Including the dog...yikes!)

For more bedrooms featuring seating areas, take a look at my most recent Ideabook written for Houzz here.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, what will you be doing? I'll be busy testing recipes for an upcoming party, which you'll be hearing more about next week. Should be interesting. If you've read this blog for any length of time you know that while I can make a kitchen look pretty, my talents don't extend into the realm of actually using them!

Good luck on the party. Catering it yourself is not as easy as it looks on tv.

The one thing I have almost never been able to do is make sure the dishwasher is EMPTY before the guests arrive. I'm always just washing all the food-prep things and there's no room to place used plates.

And I always set up serving areas on the large counter spaces. Even at Thanksgiving I used the butler pantry for serving the hot entree items.

If you have ANY advice for stashing used dishes during a cocktail or dinner party, PLEASE share!! I honestly get all stressed out looking at a growing mass of used stemware and china accumulating near the kitchen sink.

But, more on point, you have done a truly lovely job with your bedroom. Honest to goodness it looks so serene.

Now that is a great tip, making sure the dishwasher is empty before the party begins. Luckily this is a progressive dinner and we are the first stop, serving small plates...but our menu is ambitious and the crowd large! We'll see how it goes. The great part is after our portion we get to go enjoy other people's homes and leave out mess for later!

I love seating areas in bedrooms - the perfect place to take off your shoes, lay out your clothes for tomorrow... I'm trying to find the perfect piece for our bedroom now. It's a tough job!

I've been following along with your bedroom redesign and I absolutely love the settee you chose! I just posted some images of my (much smaller) bedroom and the seating area that I managed to fit into it over at my blog > http://luisadesignblog.blogspot.com/2010/12/my-bedroom.html
