This Week's Ideabook On Houzz: Kitchen Nooks

Who doesn't love a great kitchen nook! They are probably one of the most used corners in a home, and while some people think of them as a space where a table is placed in front of a built-in bench, in many homes it is simply a table placed within a kitchen area.

In this nook a long oval table is perfectly tucked into a smaller space, maximizing the number of chairs that can be comfortably placed here. The pale yellow chairs are practically the only color seen, brightening the room and looking lovely against the gray floors, white walls and cabinetry. The accent point of the design is the large collection of photographs, all framed in black.

To see more outstandingly stylish kitchen nooks, both built-in and free standing, see my entire Houzz Ideabook here.

Have a wonderful weekend! Janell

  3. I am trying to get up the nerve to do some funkier colored chairs around our table. Can't wait to check out the other nooks. Have a great weekend.

  4. I like the pictured nook as well, love the coziness created with the photo wall. Wish I had a nook, we have an open concept kitchen/family room, so we eat in the middle. I am going to paint a chalkboard wall, like yours, to create a "nook", its been on the to-do list for almost a year! Almost bought the paint, but I have a can of enamel based chalkboard paint {at home} and feel guilty not using it, but the smell :(

Where did you get your light fixture in your eating area? We have a iron chandelier but its too bright, I want to soften it up buy replacing with a pendant shade. Do you find that with one bulb it casts enough light? I am trying to find a balance!
