It May Be A Bit Earlier, But Here Are Some Holiday Decor Ideas Via HGTV.com

Recently I was asked, along with a group of wonderful bloggers, if I had any holiday decor ideas to share with HGTV.com readers. Yes, it is a big early (at least around my house!) to begin decorating for Christmas, but if planning ahead is your style here are some ideas for easy holiday decor.

Silver Bells

"Janell Beals dressed up a porcelain tray with bold accessories. Layer garland with a collection of colorful ornaments in your favorite tray to create an irresistible holiday centerpiece or sofa table addition. Janell used a mixture of silver, blue and gold for a unique twist on traditional Christmas hues."

Stocking Stuffers

"These natural, burlap-sack stockings are perfect for a cottage Christmas. White frill adorns the openings and softens the rough, burlap exterior. Stuff the stockings with fresh greenery and ornament balls for a decorative touch. Design by Holly Mathis and sewing by Michelle Fritz."

Starry and Bright

"Give your year-round candelabra a quick makeover. Add holiday-inspired candlesticks and wrap flashy gold garland around the frame for added drama. Janell Beals suggests adding pinecones and other natural elements to complete the look."

Warm Welcoming

"Create a warm and inviting entry for guests. Fill mason jars with Epsom salt for a snowy, winter look. Add small votive candles and line the walkway for a true holiday welcoming. Image courtesy of Melissa Michaels."

Warm and Festive

"Give a simple holiday update to an existing candle tray. Janell Beals wrapped glittery garland around the candles and scattered ornaments among the branches for a bright, colorful look. Use it as a centerpiece for a warm dining experience."

Delectable Decor

"Marian Parsons created a holiday wreath from Christmas fruits and natural accessories. "Adding fresh fruit and collected pinecones to an artificial wreath lends a more natural look," she says. When hung outside, cold weather will keep fruit fresh for a couple of weeks."

Blue Christmas

"Don't forget to decorate the stairs. Instead of a traditional green garland, opt for a flashy metallic version embellished with colorful ornaments for a hip look. Janell Beals says to wrap several lengths of festive garland around the handrail, then simply string on clusters of sparkling ornaments at the lower edge of the swags."

Christmas Countdown

"Share My Craft user Katie Watson came up with a creative way for children to count down the 25 days of Christmas. "Each envelope has a 'coupon' inside that is redeemable for something special (i.e., a family game night, a cup of hot chocolate, a piece of Christmas candy, Mom reading a book, etc.)," she says. It's not only a fun family activity, but a creative piece of holiday decor, too."

Janell, I love the blue and silver with the gold, nice fresh combo. It's never to early for Christmas decor. I start mid November and am done by my annual dinner party on the first weekend of December.
The season is too beautiful and to short to wait! Thanks for the sneak peak.

It is November so the Holiday season officially has started in my book! This is such a nice post to look at. The pictures are great and these look like very achievable projects. I like Warm Welcoming with the Mason Jars as the luminaries. Very timely!

I don't know what is my favorite, the mason jars with candles or the Christmas countdown. I guess I'll just have to do both!!

I love the metallic garland on the banister! Much more fun than a traditional garland of greenery.

The holiday pictures that are starting to emerge make me want to ditch my tired old stuff that lives in the attic 11 months of the year...and start fresh!!

it's never too early to start decorating or thinking about the holidays! it seems like it sneaks up on me every year, so an early start helps mellow out the craziness that ineveitably comes later.
pretty, pictures!

Love the burlap stockings! I may pick these up for my home... I recently moved from a sweet victorian row house in the city to a rustic home in a small town at the base of the mountains where frills and velvet of past year's stockings do not fit in. Thanks for the inspiration!

The burlap stockings! I wonder if I dare to make some myself? Love them!

Will also be stealing or adopting (!) the idea about the glass jars and salt. I am not so sure I can count on any snow in Seattle this winter!

Love to you,

Mon

As much as most of us prefer to not dwell on Christmas yet, I love thinking ahead & planning. It's exciting. Thanks for posting Janelle!!

The epsom salt is genius!! We used this as our wedding centerpiece vase fillers (with manzanita branches and orchids) and it was stunning. I can't believe I haven't thought to reuse it again - but this Christmas I'm definitely stealing your candle & jar idea. :)

Thanks for sharing my mason jar with epsom salts!! That idea was one I used in 2007 so I'm glad they let me share it, I'm not ready for Christmas yet either!
