DIY Bamboo Light Fixture - Good Enough To Hang!

Daylight hours...

Evening hours...

And early morning hours...

I LOVE my new DIY Bamboo Light Fixture hung here, the texture and its unique design makes me happy! (Plus the previous fixture had hurt my head one too many times...)

Also, did you notice I've moved the table from the living room into this space? Don't be surprised, nothing stays put in any location for long around here! And the next project for this area? An art wall placed underneath the side window, built around Jen's 'I Love You, Blogs and Coffee' print I recently selected.

Before I get to that, however, I need to finish the Master Bedroom Redesign, and I've just been hired to do more projects and articles for HGTV.com. So who knows when I'll get back to work on this spot of the house...

looks beautiful, i made something similar when attending design school. nothing feels better than a successful diy project, which you seem to have a lot of!

The beauty shots are exquisite, Janell! Another stunning project, flawlessly executed - congratulations! And yes, I was going to ask you about the table. I thought maybe you just moved it for styling the photos of the new light, but if this is its new home, I am SO curious to see what's happening in the space it used to sit...

I just love this! Definitely going to have to make one of these!

PS: told ya we'd be back ; )

very cool! not sure I would have the patience to glue all those bamboo sticks on, but it's surely awesome!

Janell @ Isabella and Max said...

Hi Katie,
Applying the sticks took about two hours...I guess I have patience like that with simple repetitive activities, almost meditative, not requiring a lot of thought! I caught up on a couple hours of TiVo'd shows while gluing...so fun in my book! :)

Looks great. Love your chairs. Did you already mention where those are from and I missed it?

Janell @ Isabella and Max said...

Hi Courtney,

Yes, but awhile time ago! These chairs are several years old, purchased at www.daniafurniture.com, no longer available, and have been given a makeover...surprising?

It's absolutely perfect! I have a drum pendant light in my breakfast room and I'm DYING to do something to it. My husband wants me to just let it be...for once! :) I have tall banana leaf woven chairs (world market) at my breakfast bar in the same room...do you think adding a bamboo shade would cross the 'too themey' threshold?

congrats on all your new jobs! you are one super talented gal!

Shannon said...

Janell, it looks beautiful! I love the combination of textures and shapes in this room: the bamboo shade, the trad pedastal table and the modern curvy chairs. Gorgeous!

Anita @ GoingALittleCoastal said...

I love this look. It has a nice glow to it too when lit. I might even like it with the natural bamboo too. Did you use bamboo from a shade?

Michaela said...

Wow! This is amazing. I love the texture it adds to the space.

Janell @ Isabella and Max said...

Cassie, I don't think it would be too "themey", particularly if using painted bamboo, which makes the material look modern.

Anita, here is the resource I used for the bamboo. It is a really good quality bamboo, virtually none of the sticks cracked when I cut them, which is very important, and also very lightweight, another important factor.
