Just in time, I'd say! This bedroom needs to get all cozy for the upcoming winter, because this is where I love to hang out after the kids have gone to bed on winter nights. Right now there aren't even drapes, so this room has got to be addressed, stat.
The first decision I've made, to get the project back on track, is to order this.

The Sofia Settee from Ballard Designs. It just went on sale and that was the push I needed to make a decision. I had considered the Chocolate fabric, but when I got the swatch it was very dark vs. a warm chocolate brown. The other choice, Natural, is a great neutral that coordinates beautifully with the Bocce and Canton Bazaar fabrics which have already been brought into the room. I will just jazz the piece up with some pillows!

The settee will sit where the armoire previously stood, housing an old TV.

I had intended to place this chair here, but once the armoire was removed from the room it was striking how much space there actually was...a real seating area could be created here! And yes, a TV will be hung above the settee. I am one of those people who give a big thumbs up to having a TV in the bedroom.
So far this room has been updated with an upholstered wall headboard and a pair of lamps found at HomeGoods, which received a full makeover. The remaining items to complete this room include drapery panels, bedding, a TV, side table and accessories. If I get a moment I hope to find some fabric options next week, so by the time I am done with my other commitments I will be ready to jump right in and finish this bedroom. I'll keep you posted.
In the meantime, look for my Houzz Ideabook tomorrow, featuring a series of rooms which have been updated by painting the wooden floors.
Have a great weekend! Janell

I love the settee! It's going to look great in that corner. I hope you have a great long weekend too!
Beautiful settee! The room will be transformed!
I can't wait for your Houzz book tomorrow, because I have been trying to convince my husband to paint the wood floors under our carpet. I did my own post on painted floors a couple months ago, but it means more when someone else agrees. :-)
I have enjoyed your projects you have done for HGTV..and quite happy of your recognition but selfishly I cannot wait to see all your ideas on your redesign of your Master.I too am a TV person in the our Bedroom. Not much time to be in there but when I do I relish it. Quite relaxing. Enjoy your weekend!

Hi Janelle,
Thank you so much for following Modern Country Style! I hope you cometo love it as much as I love yours!
That sofa looks gorgeous. One of the hazards of looking at blogs from other countries is seeing lovely things that aren't sold over here in England. Grrrr!
I just love seeing people's rooms transformed. We're right at the end of doing our kitchen and I'm LOVING how it's turning out!
I'll be watching your transformation with interest!
Sorry to be back so fast but I have a question about the tehnical side of your post! Where you placed the photo of the sofa, I noticed that it doesn't have the usual black frame around the photo that your other photos do. It looks like it's just hanging there. How did you get rid of the frame for that one photo?
Thank you!
Hey! I'm glad that you're starting back on the room! I must tell you, last night I had this crazy dream that your headboard fell. Why was I dreaming about your headboard? I don't know, maybe because I'm contemplating doing the same thing for my room!
Have a great weekend. Oh and you have to add some yellow to your room!
I absolutely LOVE this piece. It's gorgeous. I have a sofa that looks a little similar that I am about to reupholster. I might have to go for a similar look!
Lakeitha, I'm not worrying about it so don't you! We put so much construction strength glue back there that thing is STUCK! :) (and that actually kind of freaked a few people out, at its permanence!)
Modern Country Style...yes, there is code that you add to the image code to get rid of the frame. My realtor, of all people, suggested I do this and shared the code. Here it is:

insert this:
style="border:none;" style="float:center;
Hope that works for you! Janell
I also have to have a TV in the bedroom. I was lucky enough to find a flatscreen with a white frame...goes with my white bedding & window treatments.
I agree with you on getting the settee in the natural fabric. It gives you the opportunity to play with fabric/pattern for pillows.
Can't wait to see how it all turns out.
Oh I love that settee. It is stunning and getting it in the neutral will be perfect. I can't wait to see your room. Everything is beautiful so far. Hugs, Marty
Lovely! I hope you get it soon so you can tell me if you think it would make a good blogging spot? Don't know if you saw my entry in the Where you blog party ... but I could really use the help ... and my first option fell through :(

My husband suggested we get something nice that I would want in as part of our living room. Love that man :)
I also like the look of the Hudson Sette in the Combo Ikat Dijon print ...

Oh, I am so bad with decisions ...
i love the setee. i think the neutral color will be perfect. if you wanted to ever use it somewhere else or change your bedding it would be able to transition easily with the change
I cannot wait to see how it all comes together!
You inspire me every single day...just wanted you to know! :)
Lakeitha and Janell, you are cracking me up with thoughts of the headboard falling. Janell, I love that room and the settee is perfect. Can't wait for the wood floors post, but I won't be able to see it until Monday.
Enjoy your weekend.

Looking forward to seeing your progress in the room...love the settee and always love your choice of fabrics. I agree on TV in the bedroom...esp. when my husband is traveling....I love to catch up on all of my Design Shows after the little one is off to sleep!

I love that you are finally getting back to the bedroom! YAY! Can't wait to see what you have planned!
That settee is so pretty! I love the lines. I'm having such a hard time choosing drapes- I'm curious to see what you end up with.
