Powder bathrooms can also be approached in a slightly different design direction than other areas of the home. They present an opportunity to be more creative and adventureous than in a larger or more open room. After selecting the wallpaper design, unique lighting, mirrors, vanities and hardware can build on its style to create a jewel of a room.

I thought this was the perfect image to start an Ideabook on wallpapering powder bathrooms. You simply can not go wrong by using a bold trellis wallpaper in this space. A simple venetian inspired mirror and classic vanity complete the really quite simple but dramatic design.

What a completely cheerful powder bathroom! The colorful floral wallpaper is hung above tile wainscoting, a very smart choice. Not only does the tile prevent the walls from being completely covered with a print that could become overwhelming, but any splashes from the sink will hit the tile and not the wallpaper. This is certainly something to consider when deciding to use wallpaper in a bathroom, particularly ones that will be used by children.

This is one of the most stunning bathrooms I have seen. The grasscloth has a rich silver tone that is repeated in the unique mirror, light fixtures, hammered metal sink and the absolutely stunning stone on the vanity. The perfect finishing touch is the addition of a brilliant magenta orchid.

That first image got me! I think I'm in love! I plan to stencil my powder room with some type of trellis design. I think it would look great! Now I must read this article!
Also, so what time are you arriving now?
Have a great time in NYC!
I think wallpaper can look absolutely stunning if chosen carefully. I totally agree that small room are a good place to start. Although I'm surprised that you look at wallpaper, being queen of the stencil!!
I loved this post, but then again, there has always been a place in my heart for wallpaper. All of those images have me, especially the first one.
Have a wonderful trip!! I will be looking for you in the audience.
I love them all! Especially the toile and red bathrooms. The 1970s house we live in had wallpaper in all three bathrooms and it was so hard to take off we just painted over it...wonder if we could paper over painted-over paper? I love the idea of the tile wainscoting up and then papering just the upper part.
They're all so pretty - the bottom one is gorgeous! I am drawn to that trellis pattern in the top one - I think I'd be more inclined to try the stenciling like you did and that way it's inexpensive and can be painted over if I tire of it. Have a great trip to NYC!! :)
All so pretty! I'm in love with the grasscloth! I really wanted to cover the wall behind our bed with this but it's so pricey. Now you have me thinking again :)
I'm so glad you posted this inspiration! I'm glancing at my downstairs powder bath. It's pretty, but in need of some punch. I'm thinking a wallpaper/beadboard combo might to just the trick!

I am one who does not jump on the wallpaper bandwagon for those reasons you mentioned, however, I love to admire everyone who has the guts to do it!
Yeah see that first one ... well, I'd hate to be in it after one to many margaritas if you know what I mean.
The last one is wonderful but I wouldn't want to be the one who hangs it that's for sure.
That second one is the same pattern as my bedroom curtains! It's even prettier in real life!
I love a bold wallpaper in a small room. I've just never had the guts to go through with it...well, it's not so much the guts. Paint is just so much easier. Great post.
I think a small powder room is the perfect place to play with wallpaper. Especially love the first image!
I have a whole file with clippings of wallpapered bathrooms. I love them so much, and hope to have one some day!
i love that first image too!! i'm wanting to wallpaper our bedroom with grasscloth. i love it!
