If you have been reading my blog for any time now, you've already seen the master bathroom transformation and you've seen a repost! For some reason it really is my favorite room in the house. I simply love everything about it, which is surprising because when we first toured the house this is a room I absolutely did not like. Why? The same tile was placed everywhere, the floor, the shower, the counters, the tub surround.
So when we actually did end up purchasing this home, I knew something dramatic would have to be done in this space to take the focus away from all the tile. The most significant change that helped this goal become a reality was painting the walls a deep and dramatic color, with a wash treatment for extra depth. The other aspect of the design which helps the room be successful in the end is the rich golden accents seen in the lighting fixture, mirror frame and accessories. Here is the post, again!
It has been nearly a year and a half since I completed the Master Bath Redesign, and it is still a room that brings me complete joy and satisfaction when I step into it. There is nothing I would change, for now, and I love seeing this example of how you don't have to spend a fortune to give a room a striking transformation.
What do I love most? The gold accents. In the lighting, mirrors and accessories...all highlighted against the dark blue walls.
Yesterday the sun came out, inspiring me to open the shades. The sunlight lit up the room in such a beautiful way that I had to reach for the camera. These photos show the rich colors of the room in a way my previous photos of the bath have not, so I just had to share! I hope you enjoy...Janell

I'll be returning to this space soon to stencil this trellis design in the WC! Won't that be a fun job...any offers of help?!

Oh, I hadn't seen this before for some reason. It's lovely...but that's no real surprise now becuawe *all* your rooms seem to belovely!
What colour have you used on the wall? I love it!
I have found the rooms I least liked when we first moved in are the rooms I LOVE after we've decorated. Our kitchen and bedroom being a case in point!
I've seen this before, but I love seeing it again. You really did a great job here. There are so many little touches that take the room to the next level.
I am in love with the change! The color of the wall is so dramatic and beautiful- I am also curious to know the paint color. Also, the lighting is perfect! The chandelier and sconces bring so much rich, glamour to your space- and the hanging mirror, to die for. Thanks for the post- this is inspiring!
Thanks! I love getting ready in this room each morning!
Paint colors: From Devine Color, a layer of Rain painted over a base of Storm...the layer creates a depth that I think adds a lot and allows the color to feel rich rather than heavy.

It's a gorgeous bathroom and I can see why you're still smitten with it! I love the wall colour and updating the mirror makes a huge difference. And of course, the real show stopper: the lighting! gorg!
Love it! And anything trellis gets a thumbs up from me.
I can't wait to see the new WC! Love this room!

Janell, you are brilliant!! I think I will try this in my builder-beige bathroom. Any idea what a similar color would be in Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams?

I could never tire of this room. Can't wait to see the stenciled WC!
Hi Sarah,
Look at a SW Fan Deck and see cards 34 through 37, the darker colors on each card. I got the inspiration for the color in this room by looking closely at the tile and pulling out the thin grain of blue present...I think this is why the color works in the room. It is already there in the tile, in traces.
Good luck! Janell
What a beautiful makeover. I love the colors. And the new mirror is to die for gorgeous.
Janell I just came from Kates post, I signed up a link also. Your bathroom is stunning. I love the dark walls and those sconces on the mirro are wonderful, Kathysue
Couldn't have done it better my self. I'm truly envious of your chair with the floral design, very very nice.
