Hanging On To The Last Moments Of Summer

On this Labor Day I will be clinging to the final moments of Summer. Despite seeing Fall being embraced all around me, in preparations for the start of school, on blogs and in store displays showcasing holiday decor and fall clothing, I am not ready. The gray skies did not clear until well into July around here, so it has truly been an abbreviated season and I'm having a hard time accepting this new season!

What helps? A little denial and looking at this photo of gorgeous Peonies picked from my father's garden earlier in the season. Could a flower be more perfect?

How about you? Have you begun to embrace Fall?

I cannot wait for fall and the 10 days of nice weather that we get. It has been the hottest summer on record in NJ. I am tired of being hot and sweaty....bring on the pretty sweaters!

Yes, with the unbearable heat this summer brought to us, I'm quite ready to say adieu to the summer. It also brought good moments as well, but fall is my favorite time of year and I'm ready for a change. Hope you enjoy your Labor Day weekend!

I spent the hottest summer ever in Finland in Australia's winter, so I am not ready for the long, dark, cold winter yet...

Summer ended all of a sudden and we have had autumn weather already for almost two weeks, too early for me!

I am so with you, Janell!!! I LOVE summer, and I am not ready to let it go. The weather has really cooled the past week, and I don't want to embrace it. Sweaters, pants, socks... no, no, not yet!

Yes, I am welcoming Fall with open arms. It's a time you year when I open my windows and allow the house to air before Winter sets in.

Here in Cincinnati it's been the longest, hottest summer I can remember and I LOVE IT! Not quite ready for fall. And what a beautiful photo - there is just something about the layers and layers and layers of petals on peonies that make them absolutely stunning.

growing up in a country that is Summer the entire year I embrace the change of Season. I'm also a fall baby so this is my favorite Season...along with my favorite Holiday: Halloween.
I hope it stays warm for you anyways.

Our summer has been so long and so hot that I am more than ready for it to be gone. However, since I live in the desert, our fall and winter are the perfect temps and we can be outside all the time. So I always look forward to that. Hope you have a super day. Hugs, Marty

I'm having a harder time embracing fall, only because it never lasts long enough, and the cold winter is just around the corner!

Janell you obviously don't get the same summers we do! It has been in the 100's for the past few months. I mean, our summer really started in what? May? I'm so over it and plus, I dress my best in the Fall and Winter months;-)

And I think I've said that Peonies are my favorite flowers! LOVE them. I used them along with hydrangea and roses for my wedding in all shades of pink!

I am SO with you on this, Janell! Summer has been so short for the PNW. I *want* to decorate for fall, but I just can't do it yet. The rain is going to be here before we know it and then it will feel right to decorate for the season! The kids & I...we're clinging to summer right along with you! :)

I hope your kids have a great first day of school!!

It really has everything to do with where you live, doesn't it? Most of the country had record heat, while the Northwest had a record lows, gray skies and rain! For those of you who are sweltering, I hope the cool comes soon for you!!
