Fast forward a year. When I was asked to submit several projects I would consider doing to write tutorials, I recalled this idea and added it to the list.
As a result, I'm excited to be finally installing shades in Isabella's room! First reverse roll roller shades were ordered from Smith + Noble, then decorative pulls were found at Zwick Window Shade Co., and with Isabella's help I chose some bright trim at JoAnn Fabrics.
You may recall this post, 'A Little Decorative Jewelry For Your Shades', featuring several decorative pulls. I simply LOVE this pretty hardware! Here is the style I selected to attach to the shades, but check out other wonderful styles available here.

This project ended up being sooooo easy! I'll post all the details and the final result next Monday. In the meantime, look for my latest Ideabook for Houzz in tomorrow's post. Happy Friday!

On a tangent slightly, I've noticed on many American interior projects posted on blogs that often the bed is put in front of the window. It happens in the UK occasionally but on the whole we tend to have beds facing the window so that we can admire the view. Do you have a view on this ?

This room looks amazing... and I adore that chandelier!!
Those pulls are lovely!

I STILL LOVE THIS ROOM! So chic and girlie!
Those shades are gonna look great in the room! And the jewelry is perfect with the chandelier...
Has Isabella told you what she wants to be when she grows up? I'm thinking something in the arts;-)
I haven't seen those little pulls since I was a little girl. My grandmother had them on her roller shades, but in her bedroom she had that little fringe on the bottom.
Hello, what a stunning room. The colours really come together beautifully with the chandelier. Just gorgeous.
ZoeB,
Great point, I am NOT really a fan of placing a bed in front of a window. However, both of the kids bedrooms in this house are long and narrow, to fit in a queen in this room and two twins in Max's room (and still have symmetry!) placing the head of the beds at the window is the only layout that works while still fitting in other pieces of furniture.
Thanks for asking! Janell
Janelle - the room is just gorgeous. Re the chalkboard dresser - have Isabella listen to her favorite pop songs and see if there's a good quote there. I think Taylor Swift has a song called "Fearless" that might have something in it. The kids use song quotes all the time for their Facebook statuses, and I'm sure she can think of something. Can't wait to see the finished shades.
I adore that color scheme! Any girl would love having a room like that.
what a pretty room and the shade will be a great finishing touch! : )
Wow for a little girls room that one is definetly a cut above. Love the hardware you put on the roller shade....makes a huge difference.
Oh Janell I can't wait to see this project! I just know its going to look beautiful. :)
Just wondering... so has Isabella been pulling the drapes closed for privacy/light blocking or has that not been an issue? Also, to go back to the last post, what color is that on the wall behind the chalkboard dresser? It is so lovely and light but still dark enough to have the trim contrast beautifully.
Thanks so much,
Michiganhome
Yes, sometimes the drapes stay closed for days on end...so this addition is great! Darkens the room quite a bit, while allowing the drapes to be pulled back (which in my opinion looks better!)
And the color from the previous post...one of my favorite neutrals: Sherwin Williams Universal Khaki
such pretty pulls my sweet xo
Can't wait to see this, I have a shade that needs this bad!!
