I simply adore this image! The pale turquoise cabinetry is happiness, really, and what I love best is the large cork board framed in millwork painted the identical color. Hanging the board at same height as the top of the cabinetry was a choice that makes the message board look like an extension of the cabinetry. What a functional addition to a delightful home office and studio placed at the end of a room. I could go on, the light fixture, the windows...but this Ideabook is about message boards. Shoot.

A large inspiration/message board placed alongside a dining room table not only adds visual interest with its color and pattern, but what a great conversation piece. I can just image joining a dinner party at this table and quizzing the owners about the bits and pieces pinned to the board. Also note the light fixture attached to the board, extending over the table...very cool.

If I could pick one room featured in this Ideabook for my home, this would be it. What an outstanding space for a family with children. This space offers ample storage, plenty of seating and lighting along with a view to the outdoors. But the item that makes the space? One very large message board covering an entire wall. It is the perfect spot to hang artwork, school work, notes, invitations and inspirations!

Yes I agree with you about the last image. It is perfect for families with children. This would have been perfect through the years. Great post.

I too love message boards! I just need to figure out a place for one! I already have the perfect frame to use for it!
I'm headed over to read the rest of the article. Have a great weekend:-)
I'm in the middle of making one and have plans for another - loved this post!!
I agree I would want the same one in the room with all those windows! And those hanging lights are wonderful! Everyone needs some sort of message board in their home!
The first picture speaks to me....maybe in 15 years when all the kids are moved out and the playroom becomes my craft room. Is that bad I already have dreams of turning their little playroom into my room :) Have a great weekend!
Beautiful...love the last space! wonderful!

Cristin,
I have been thinking of doing a post on this! It isn't always easy and I have been in the process of selecting what work I want to spend my time on and eliminate work that no longer makes sense! Great question and issue I think most of us are dealing with!
And Kristin...no, not bad at all! I'm looking into the idea of "stealing" some sf from the bonus to make a real office for me! We all need our own spaces and I think it is really interesting how mothers are often the only member of a family that don't have a space that is just theirs!

Seriously. I could get to work in any one of those rooms! Great photos!

I have an empty wall in my home office screaming for some attention. A mood board or message board might just be the ticket.
Or I will buy one or two of your FANTASTIC chalk boards that you built! Well done, Janell!

Love the first image too - it looks like such a happy space. The striped chair is fab.
I really like the second image down. Especially that light fixture. I wonder where it's from?
