Dear Nate...

Dear Nate,

I heard a rumor that a large number of
bloggers are writing posts on you and your work today and I just had to join in! Your style has inspired me tremendously and I was thrilled, but not surprised, when I learned about your upcoming show. Perhaps you'll invite me and some of my friends to be in your audience in the fall...and then they can finally stop being mad at me.

Remember when Oprah hosted the
'Knock, Knock It's Nate Contest' a few years ago? Well I was one of the semi-finalists, and though it was wonderful to be mentioned in 'O at Home', my home did not end up being one of the three you visited. My friends had seriously counted on my coming through for them and winning. They all had plans on how they would just "happen to stop by" the day you came to my house and that is all they could talk about for weeks as I waited to hear the final news. It was hard to break the bad news to them, but now that you have your own show you can make it up to me.

All the best and I look forward to meeting you soon! Janell

(yeah right...but a girl can ask!)

And now let's get serious, look at these rooms! Each room is grounded by a simple graphic rug. In the room above I adore the mix of elegant seating with the modern light fixture. This arrangement is enhanced by the grouping of art which begins above the center of the sofa but veers to the right, ending with the tall chalkboard on which "God Bless America" is repeated up its height.

What catches my eye in this room is the stunning wall treatment, are those metallic sheets? And here another fabulous Bamboo Chippendale chair, this one upholstered in patched leather, sits at a sawhorse desk. If this room doesn't convince you mixing styles is an okay thing to do, I won't be able to persuade you.

If there ever was a closet for shoe lovers this is it. With everything neatly displayed in plain view and a pair of X Base Benches in brass to sit on, I don't think anyone could feel blue in this room.

Nate's style has a definite masculine edge to it, particularly in the rooms he does for himself, and I like that. Yet his designs are full of warmth, pattern, and bold use of color so that his appeal is wide...and then add in that smile. It is a winning combination!

And, to get back to the regularly scheduled programming, stop by tomorrow to see the progress I've made in covering the lampshades for the Master Bedroom Redesign...they are looking good! And for a chance to win a little bling, stop by here.

What will Nate think when he reads your post? I hope he loves it, he can't go wrong with you. I am really drawn to that wall treatment on the second picture. Best of luck to you with Nate!

o yes! And I am trying to get his formula for the perfect gray wall color!

I am both flattered and amused that in a couple of comments people have assumed Nate will read this post! Wouldn't that be a hoot...and do you notice I did not add a last name anywhere in the post? No need I think.

Oh I love his Chicago home! And that chalkboard wall reminds me of someone? Hmmm....I can't think of her name, but I could totally see her doing something like that in a space;-)

Isn't Nate Day fun?! I have to go check out the rest of the ladies!

Loving your twitter action too!

Personally...everyday is Nate Day for me. But since this is now the official day, I'm trying to convince the hubs that it is a gift exchanging holiday. He ain't buyin' it. Literally!

Yet another great Nate post but love that you included my favorite of all his designs, his living room. I fell hard for that space several years ago so much that we stopped bye the Joshua Tree National Park outside Palm Springs so we could photograph the trees and have them blown up much as Nate shows in that room. I love his use of graphic rugs, really sets the stage.

Thanks for the fun Janell. So cool that you were a semi-finalist!

Love Nate, what a let down not to have been one of the finalists.

What I like so much about Nate is that while all his rooms have a definite "Nate" touch, they also suit his clients so well -- he can definitely "fem" it up more for his female clients (like Katie Lee or his sister).

LOL!! That was too funny..but not at all a stretch. You would be a fantastic guest for him. Oprah helped his career and he in turn will turn America on to the next Design Star! He is a doll, isn't he? Can't wait for his show!
