Guest Blogger At 'From The Right Bank' & Max's Desk Chair Preferences

From The Right Bank is one of my favorite blogs, so when Ally asked if I would be a guest blogger for her I was absolutely delighted. Check out the post and her wonderful blog here.

And what are the updates in the Big Boy's Bedroom? Seating for the desk.

Last week I brought in the simple Gilbert stool to sit at the desk and Max promptly and swiftly nixed my choice.

What? Why? It's fine, it's small, it fits. "No," was the response. "Something with a back, even if it's a small one. I don't want to fall off, like the stools in the kitchen sometimes."

Fair enough, he has fallen off the island stools a time or two...or three. How he can be sitting there just fine and then suddenly be on the floor is a mystery to me. Boys. But let's avoid that issue here.

So back to Ikea I drove...this is becoming a familiar habit. One thing I can say, I'm getting to know that store quite well and can breeze through it in record time. Anyway, hopefully this was the last trip. I now have most everything I need to wrap up this project, including a Nordmyra chair.

Unpacking the box I was very happy to see how well the colors of the chair looked in the room next to the rug.

And with a very short set of instructions the chair was assembled before I could remember to take more pictures.

The chair brings in a bit of brightness that works and was needed in the room.

Most important, it received Max's stamp of approval. "It's comfortable!"

Also during this final trip to Ikea I found a pair of newly arrived pillow cases that bring in a splash of color and parts for a ceiling fixture idea. More on that next week. In the meantime, have a great weekend!

I liked the stool but seeing this makes sense and I like how it brightens the area. I so need pillow covers, can you drive to Ikea one more time, lol!

I can't believe that you're going to be done with Max room before I finish mine! oh wait, yes I can!!!

I like the chair better too and Max is so funny with not wanted to fall! my boys fall from chairs that have backs!

have a great weekend Janell! hey, while you were in Ikea, did you see some nice outdoor items?!

Way to listen to the client, Janell! : ) I think kids forget there is no back on stools, and they try to lean back and there they lay.

Like the chair and the dictionary on the desk is a nice touch! Does he actually use it? My son can't be bothered and misspells constantly!

The dictionary...YES! MAX USES IT! It is an old dictionary I was given when I graduated from HS, he recently found it when we were cleaning out boxes in the garage.

No prop here, he pages through it and asks questions. Of course, words with pictures are what he is interested in, but recently we were all working in the backyard cleaning up and all Max wanted to do was sit and call out words to us. Slacker!!

This is a very nice looking chair. Can the back and seat be painted?

That was my first idea when I saw the chair...perhaps a stripe? I don't see why it couldn't be painted! Janell

That chair is perfect; you're right that the room needed some white.

I remember getting the first catalog of IKEA when my kids were still very small. I think they have had all stages of Ikea children rooms till now ... I have been there hundreds of times and still every time I find something I 'Need' This chair is really beautiful I like the combination of white and wood. I might check it out some time!
And now I am gonna look for your chalk=board wall story as I love things like that raw and simple ;)
all the best and have a great weekend

Another great lesson from Janell - I would not have combined that chair with the desk, but it adds a wonderful bright pop!
