A Full Plate Of Projects

The chair I purchased from eBay, for my Chair Challenge, just arrived! It's a good thing my husband cleaned out the garage over the holidays. However, I think his motivation was to have room to park his car in the garage, not to provide storage for furniture waiting to be refinished. But thanks anyway...

Have you ever seen so many labels on one box?

I got a kick out of how the chair was wrapped inside the box.

Hey honey, look what I won on eBay, a styrofoam chair! The site of this conjures up the idea of some art installation project someone might have done while I was in art school.

But after all the packing materials were removed I was very pleased with my purchase. This chair has potential and I can't wait to get around to this project.

Using this Surankari fabric in Mason I hope to end up with something like the Conservatory Chair from Anthropologie.

But patience, first I need to finish Max's room and then wrap up the Home Office Redesign!

Beautiful, Janell! Thankfully, they did wrap it so well and have so many labels on it ~ it got to you with no issues and in one piece!

What a great chair. I am looking for on just like it. I have looked at chairs on eBay and wondered how on earth do they ship a chair? Now I know. I want to buy a Bertoia (sp?- I always forget a vowel somewhere) reproduction chair for my daughters room and the price was great. I might just order one.

Are you re-upholstering it yourself? I hope you take pictures along the way.

Oooh, this is going to be good! I always wondered how people shipped furniture from Ebay; now I know.

Hello - quick questions:

How was your chair shipped from the ebay seller via what method?

Approximate cost?

Love your blog. Real design and real style.

Sanity Fair said...

LOL - the packing makes it look like a lurching, Frankenstein chair! But, hey kudos to the packers for doing such a great job. Can't wait to see the results! Post soon!

To answer the shipping question by AABG...

The shipping cost $60, from the opposite corner of the country, FL. So was happy. Cheapest way is to have it shipped to a Greyhound station, luckily I have one south of me just a few miles, so not a big deal. Some people dislike this method, but if it saves $$ I'm happy. Hope that answers your question.

I can't believe we have the same chair. My daughter Vanessa over at Vanessa + Valentine blog bought 4 of the exact chairs. You can see one of them on her blog from 4/6 as she writes about the weekend paint project in her living room. I so enjoy reading your blog daily.

Thanks for stopping by Janell! My mom actually told me about the chair you purchased (she loves your blog btw!) literally right around the time I purchased mine! How funny we both found the same chairs online! I can't wait to see how yours turns out too! Brave of you to try to recover it yourself!
