Somebody Stop Me...

...Before I end up covering my entire house with chalkboard paint. What is it about this stuff?

Is it because it is just such a fun project?

Or is it because of the moment when it looks like there are a zillion stars staring back at you from the walls?

Or is it because of the wonderful texture left behind after wiping off the chalk?

Or is it because it encourages you to WRITE on the walls...without getting into trouble?

Whatever the reason, I love chalkboard paint.

I was wondering what you use to clean your chalkboard with. I just painted the long side of my pantry with chalkboard paint and I'm so happy with it.

I love your chalkboard walls I think they are great and more importantly just look at Max and how creative he is being. I think you just made his room even more HIS!! Love anything to make a child creative. bravo, Paint away. I am about to do a post on inspiration for EAster and I am hunting for a picture I saved from last year where they had painted eggs with chalkboard paint and used them as seat place cards. Now there you go another painting project. Have a great weekend,Kathysue

Chalkboards are so much fun! I can't wait to get my hands on a can and get going, thinking we need lots of it with four kiddos! Love your blog :)

Wow i'm kind a tempted to do it in my 6 yr old daughter room. All she does is write, read and color.
You said its fun and easy to do right?.:)

Since her room will be guestroom too, i guess i can write a welcome note as well.

My 4th grader daughter saw what Isabella's doing, she said we learned that in 3th gr. :>

Looks like Max is going to have a
cool room cant wait.

I really like the chalkboard on the walls idea. I have a few little chalk boards around the house, but love your idea. Maybe it would stop my kiddos from leaving crayon and pen murals all over :) Thanks for sharing how you put up your picture frame collages. I am definatly going to try it. I never even thought about laying it out on paper first. simplifies everything..

This was such a great idea to put in Max's room, Janell! It's gotta feel good to see them using it.

Id also like to say it is nice to have found your blog. Most of the other design blogs i read are all WHITE!! I love the white but I do like warmer color more. I work better with warm colors and I can see you do like warmers colors too. I love your ideas. K i wont bug you anymore today (;

That stripe is so delicious, I almost want to lick it. Except that it's a chalkboard. Ew.

All kidding aside, I am loving that bold horizontal stripe in his room. LOVING.

Such a fun look for a playroom too. But, do share if the chalk dust gets out of hand. That is my one reservation about it.

I think this is a great idea for a kid's room or a den. The stripe is bold and graphic and feels super-sophisticated, but it also is kid-friendly and encourages their creativity. Great job, Janell!

Yes, I'll let you know about the dust. Last night before bed there was a lot of drawing and writing going on and it did occur to me that light covered canvas bedspreads might be in the future!

You did a fantastic job! I love that it's a band around the room. It gives it a tailored look. I'm over the moon about chalk board paint too. It's like I can't control my urge to find more stuff to paint!

So glad the boy got his chalkboard! I am also curious to hear if there's a dust problem. I love this idea, but my 5-year-old is allergy prone so I wonder if I would have problems. . . .Maybe I could do a huge painted horizontal stripe, if nothing else. Love the way this looks.

Okay. I know I say love a lot, but I can't help it. :-) I LOVE the stripe in chalkboard paint and the lamps are adorable. You are on a major creative streak, girl! Keep it up...
