Sunday night, while attempting to watch the Amazing Race, I sewed up this pillow to add a punch of color in the Home Office Redesign. Do you watch this show? Usually I soak up every second of it, but I can't seem to get into this season. Perhaps if I wasn't sewing or writing a post while watching I would!
Then yesterday I added nailhead trim to the chair. This accent wonderfully accents its vertical lines. I only had time for one arm, but hopefully today I'll find an hour to finish the job on the other side of the chair.

s'good!
It looks great!
love it!
Perfect!! It reminds me of the Collette dining chair from Crate and Barrel I've been drooling over! It's just the reading and relaxing version. I love how you take everything to the next level..your attention to detail is ahh-mazing!!!
I love nailhead trim and I think this is the jewelry the chair needed, great choice!! kathysue
Love the nailhead trim! It absolutely reinforces the lines of the chair, in the best way. Also, the textures of the curtains and the pillow against that fabulous fabric that the chair is upholstered with are wonderfully interesting. I would have never picked that color for the pillow, but it's PERFECT. You always surprise me!

Yup...I've died!!! Janell, that was a brilliant move! People don't think to enhance new items. Oh, and what is the name of the fabric used for the pillow?
Have a great day!
I may have to buy a new hammer soon---my trusty red handled friend has been wacking away at nail heads---that bit of trim just seems to elevate the mundane to a whole new level!

The nailheads were purchased at JoAnn Fabrics (had to visit a couple stores to get enough!) and the fabric is also from this store. A poly velvet...okay, not the most highbrow of fabrics, but I wanted a very specific color for this pillow and I gave myself about an hour on Sunday to find it. I was thrilled the right color was waiting for me, poly or not!
Janell
How did you get the nailheads spaced so evenly? It looks professional!
I love the nailhead trim its perfect
Absolute perfection!!!
Simply beautiful! I love the nailhead trim. You definately have an eye for detail. I second the question, what's your secret to perfectly spacing and aligning the nail heads?
I used to be a big fan of Amazing Race. I loved seeing all the destinations. But with two preschoolers, it's hard to watch anything. I still listen to it though.
Have a good one! Lisa
I've never been able to keep up w/ any t.v. programs except Bad Girls Club, tisk tisk right? I love the punch of green. And the nail head, def. a good move. It really does make those lines appear.
p.s. I made some green pillows, same shape as yours, out of apple green dupioni silk table napkins. Saved $$, and they look beautiful.
LOVE LOVE LOVE the addition!!!
Gorgeous, Janell! I would have been terrified to alter something completely new like that, but your risk paid off!!! I love that shade of green..makes a big color statement in the room:)
I am so in to nailhead trim!!! I love what it adds to the chair!
nailhead trim is to die for!!
Is that piping I see on the pillow there? love that too!
Bravo!
A couple of questions, if you have time:
I noticed you used individual nails, and not the track of faux nailhead that has an actual nail only every so often. What is your opinion on those?
Also, how do you keep the nails from popping back out? Or is the weave of the fabric tight enough that they stay put once in?
I have nailhead on only one piece in my house, but I haven't examined it closely to see how they did it. I'm a bit afraid to muss it.
THanks!
It looks great! I'm so impressed with how straight you were able to apply the trim -- any tips?!
Thanks! I looked at the strip version of nailhead trim and I thought it looked strange, at least the style available at JoAnn. I've seen better, but none there. The nails hit the frame (or something solid!) just enough to make them hard to pull out. I know, I had to pull a few out to tweek the placement. As far as tips to getting them even? None really, except don't be in a hurry and just get a good sense of the distance between the edge of the previous nail attached and the point in the fabric where the next nail needs to go. I was also careful to put the nail tips inbetween the weave of the fabric so as to not damage the fabric. I wouldn't have done this treatment if the nails did any damage to the fabric, such as a poly micro, etc.
Thanks! Janell
love the NHT!

I think it looks fab! Perfect for the room!
Thanks! I didn't even think about the frame...of course!
I appreciate your tips and insight on this. And the great pics. Thanks again.

Fabulous job Janell! The mix of materials and textures in the chair, pillow, and drape is just perfect.
The nail heads look so great and are just the perfect touch on that gorgeous chair!
I keep looking for nailhead trim and being foiled! Both AC Moore and Michael's told me to try an upholstery store but that seems like too much work...
I love nailhead trim, and I think this is a wonderful example - the silver and grey are lovely.
Oh wow! I couldnt see how nailhead trim on the arms would work from yesterdays post - but it just looks beautiful! Great vision!
That is so beautiful...or should I say handsome considering who the client is...nice job.
that nailhead trim added another $300 to that chair. beautiful job, janell.
The nailhead trim is the perfect finishing touch! Love the splash of green with the pillow too.
