Mom/Designer: "What are your favorite colors?"
Max/Client: "Black is my favorite color and it might be yellow in the future."
(Hum, a forward thinking client, I like that.)
Mom/Designer: "Is there anything you don't like about your room in its current condition?"
Max/Client: "That the walls are plain."
Mom/Designer: "Okay. How do you like a room to look?"
Max/Client: "Hum, like...not plain. I like them designed."
(Seriously, he said this. I love my children...)
Mom/Designer: "What do you like to do in your room?"
Max/Client: "Sleep."
Mom/Designer: "Yes, that makes sense. Is there anything else you like to do, or would like to be able to do in your room?"
Max/Client: "Read. Look at artwork. Make artwork."
Mom/Designer: "Is there anything we can bring into the room for these activities?"
Max/Client: "Chalkboard. C-H-A-....I don't know how to spell it."
Mom/Designer: "Is there anything else you would like to see added to the room?"
Max/Client: "Hum, yeah, a map on the wall, anywhere."
Mom/Designer: "Do you have a favorite interior design style?"
Max/Client: "Real."
So there you have it. Thanks for your patience with me Max.
While we were doing the interview I got a call, he wanted to get on the phone and this is what he said. "I'm doing this boring interview with my mom..."
Okay, fair enough. As for the information I got from our talk, I'm bringing in a bit of the color black with the reinvention of the table lamps, and did get several other ideas as well. Look for the lamp redo tomorrow.
He is so out of here...

I love that you took the time to ask his opinion! It is so easy sometimes as a designer to just do your own thing! Very cute!
Geeze, Janell, what do you want? He gave you everything you need! Read between the lines! : ) I totally understand the not plain walls {how many times have you heard about that from your adult clients}.
That is the cutest interview ever and he is really a thinker. My son would have probably said a Power Ranger or Bakugan room. That's why I don't ask him. I can't wait to see what you do with his thoughts.
so adorable!!!!!
wonderful! thanks...
Precious !!! Love the idea of the map Max, my kids have a huge one and LOVE it !
Your mom's friend,
Kate
He's precious. How old is he? I have a 6 year old son and they say the funniest things!
What a cutie, I love that interview and I cant wait to see the black, and maybe yellow in the future, in his room.
those expressions are fantastic!!! you should frame them in a series!
Adorable!
Adorable!! What fun to create with your little man! Sounds like he may enjoy a chalkboard wall like his daddy. I know you have something fabulous and fun for us all to admire.
Enjoy your week
Maureen
i love the interview and the pictures! very cute!
He is so cute!! I love that he thought the interview was "boring", and love that he likes to read! One of your kids will probably grow up to be a designer . . .
how funny! he thinks your interview is boring and we just eat it up! he's so stinkin' cute. great that he wants a map in his room!
He is adorable. Love the curls!
At young ages he know what he want for his room.
Design definitely run in his blood.:)
Looks like you had fun doing the interview.
Hope someday you can design a room for girl w/ 2 twin bed as well.
Cant wait for Max room.
You need to save this, it is the cutest thing ever! He was also very articulate about what he wants.
This was the best interview I've read in a long time! He is a boy that knows what he wants and that's a good thing! I asked TJ (my 5 yr. old) what color he wants his room to be and he said yellow. He said not girly yellow, but Bumble bee yellow (transformers!). So now what?!
Oh, my gosh, that is too funny! Love that he's looking ahead to what colors he might like in the future. I'd try this with my kids, but I'm almost afraid to find out what crazy things they'd want in their rooms... :-)
That is seriously too cute/hilarious. I love a gentleman who knows what he wants!

Not only is your son GORGEOUS but he is witty as they come! This is the best interview I have read all year!
I love this interview!!! So cute!! (and my little boys have that same shirt...gotta love Tar-jay!)
This is priceless! I have a feeling this will bring you very happy memories some day, when he's a raging success (in the design industry).
Just came back to see Max again! He is soooo cute! Those curls (and eyes)... Can you imagine the girl drama you're gonna have when he is older?!
I think he may be secretly reading design blogs. . . He is so on trend w/ the chalkboard and map on the wall. I like this guy :)
LOL, my daughter told me that she wanted her room to be like a princess and a ballerina's....like Ariel. What?!!!

Oh my. My curly-headed boy is now 22. Oh how I miss those days! He's a very nice guy but doesn't quite adore me as he did then. :)
