"Casting Call" - Room Redesign

As you must realize there are a finite number of rooms in my house, and I am going through them at a fairly rapid pace! So I am announcing a "Casting Call", a search for a room near me that is in need of a redesign.

Do you have a Family Room that presently looks like this?

Which wants to be transformed into this?

Is a Master Bedroom Retreat on your wish list?

Or a Dream Bedroom for your daughter? (Or a son?)

Is there a Master Bathroom in your home that would love an update? Taking it from this:

To this?

Or is your Kitchen crying out for a face lift?

Would a Chalkboard Art Wall be a wonderful feature in one of your rooms?

If you live in the Portland metro area and would like to work on a room redesign with me, I'd love to hear from you. What will I provide? A complete room design, assistance with formulating a budget that works for you, a flat design fee to be determined between the parties based on the scope of the project, the option to purchase goods for the room through my trade discount and the project management to see the job to its completion.

To be considered please send photos of the space to janell@isabellaandmax.com. Please include a description of the room and what you hope to achieve with a redesign. The requirements to be considered are:

1) Be willing to have the space photographed throughout the design process and written about in posts on this blog.

2) Commit to completing the space within a given time frame.

3) Be open to creative solutions for the design plan...but trust me, you won't hear me asking you to cover any walls with feathers, like Hildi did on Trading Spaces. (Did you see that episode?!)

And if you don't live in the area...is there a room you would enjoy working on with me, if I did live near you?

Darn I live in Vancouver, Canada. Wish it were Vancouver, WA - if you were nearby I would have you work on my dining/living room.

Oh, Janell!!! If only I lived closer, I would jump all over this! I love everything you've done to your house and have even considered asking if you'd do some consulting via e-mail for my family room. It needs help. :)

This is a great idea. When you're done with this, lets talk about doing the same thing but for a virtual clients family room!!!

i absolutely love your design style, and could really use some help with a few rooms in my house (most of all a VERY tiny master bath that i'd love to feel a little more spacious) but unfortunately i live on the opposite coast from you in Charlotte NC!

Awww, you are one talented lady. I would buy a house just so you could design it for us. YES! I saw that episode and though: "if they do that to my room I will kill the designer" nothing creative about that.

I live in the LA area, but if I could have you help me with one room it would definitely be our master bedroom. There are other rooms that need help in our house, but the master bedroom always seems to be forgotten in many busy working people's homes. It should be the ultimate retreat, but it ends up being the catch-all of reject furniture and the laundry collection room.

Suddenly, I wish I lived in Oregon!

Thanks for including the rest of us... at least we can dream, right?:)

What I really need is help unifiying our open living, kitchen, dining area. My husband and I are young (new homeowners!) and have a fairly tight budget, but feel fortunate to have a brand new house and plenty of versatile furniture to work with! Now I'm working on trying to finish each room and struggling with pulling the open spaces together with color and accessories. With the help of Polyvore, I will make it through- but your help would be.... a dream.

Who will forgot that feather episode?. That is by far the worse design i ever saw. All they need is a chicken:>

Finally you did this i was wondering for a long time.

Lucky participant! Too bad I'm in Georgia. coz your house is pretty much my model home.

One day i will send you a picture and ask for your advice. still working on setting aside a budget for that. interested w/ Vangogh furniture as well.

Cant wait for this new event on your blog.

Good Luck!

that feather episode was SHOCKING I tell ya. Did you see the one with the hay also? It was a nightmare to watch for my husband with hay allergies.

If ONLY we didn't live so far apart! I am in a 10yo "builder beige" house that needs some sleek style! We bought it in July and are settled in to the point of "now what!?" Love your home....I am forever showing my husband pics for inspiration. Thanks for sharing them with us!

Sadly I am far away too but my bedroom is the one room that needs some help.

There is only one thing in my bedroom that I actually like and it's my dresser. That's it.

Can't wait to see who you pick.

Sadly I do not live close to you.

Yes, all of you just need to MOVE TO PORTLAND and keep me busy for the next few years!!

I'm completely excited, I actually already have some good prospects. But if you are interested and live in the area send in your spaces as well!! Perhaps I'll do more than one!

Thanks, Janell

oh, oh, choose me! I live in Newberg, OR! Sending you an email with pics real soon!

Right after this one you are heading over to the midwest to help us out right? ;)

Sarah said...

Just wanted to say I love every transformation you pictured and I really wish I lived in Portland! If you ever have the time and capability to do it through email I might have to take you up on it! :)

I do not live in Portland, would you consider doing an online consultation? I have a friend who is a photographer who could take pictures!

I have a music room that needs help, and I am not good at decorating!

What fun! Too bad I live on the opposite coast. My brother lives in Portland, though...

Oh, how I wished you lived in South Texas! I have loved *everything* you have done on your blog.

I do remember that episode with the feathers on the wall- for me, it fell somewhere between tarred and feathered and a pillow fight gone wrong. Anyway, that wall was scary enough to keep me from putting in for the show.

Sigh...I, too, live far away in Philadelphia. I have gotten most of the rooms in my house to a point where I like them, but my bedroom is driving me nuts! I failed miserably in there. :(

Sadly, Ive never even been to Portland. Been to Seattle (twice) though, and LOVED it! Bet Portland is just as awesome.

To those of you who have asked, yes! I will do a post soon about painting the cabinets...or look under "Kitchen Redesign" for more information now. However, when I wrote those posts I was newer at this whole blog thing and didn't really get into a lot of detail!

Thanks for asking! Janell
