Drapes - Done & Loving Them!

Here they are.
It wasn't exactly a short road to get here...but I love the result!

On Monday, making pillows.
And then it is back to more projects scheduled for the
Home Office Redesign.

Refinishing this piece is on the to do list.
I have to admit, I'm trying to figure out how to delay
the start of this job.
Let's see what I find to occupy myself while I procrastinate.

Are there projects you are currently avoiding?

  1. Looking good - can't wait to see the rest.

I tend to have a long list of tasks I avoid. Like organizing. But I've been avoiding touching up paint dings for the past two years but its really getting out of hand.

  3. They look great! You are motivating me to start working on my husband's office.

Procrastination? I am procrastinating on paying bills and pulling together tax info for our accountant. Reading design blogs is so much more fun!

  6. It looks beautiful! You did a great job. Can't wait to see the tutorial for pillows. So what size do you think is the best size for throw pillows on a couch? I see 16x16 a lot but that seems to small for my couch. Just wondering your thoughts on that.

  7. Love your window treatments! Looks great. I desperately need some for my bedroom and have for two years, so I'd have to say that's what I'm procrastinating about, myself.

  8. Looking fantastic, Janell! The drapes look great. I love that furniture piece! Storage pieces are always a great idea in a home office. Did you have a color in mind for it yet?

Yes, my living room coffee table. I was going to paint it black, but then I saw a project someone did on their bathroom cabinet using black stain and now I'm not sure which way to go. I have the paint, so that's in the paintings favor {my free quart of Glidden}. Plus, I still need to get foam rollers. So, yeah, that's my procrastinating story.

  13. I love that Just Beachy likes the piece just as it is, the idea of that saves me HOURS of labor!! But I know myself better...what color? Hum, I haven't even gotten that far yet, was thinking just an off white, but what endless possibilities to consider.

Don't you love how well the drapes were trained? Maintain nice folds when closed as well.

  18. Fan-tab-u-lous job! I'm trying to gear up to make 8 pr. of drapes for my sunroom windows but I'm sorta cheating. I'll be using white sheets and drop cloths (I'm the drop cloth queen) for a wide border at the bottom. I've been going over and over in my mind how to make all those babies line up perfectly at the bottom....I think I've got it figured out.

Great job and it looks gorgeous!

  30. Janelle, I must tell you -- I am probably one of your biggest fans. You have a totally classy sense of style -- a combination of eclectic, traditional, and transitional pieces, with a WOW factor thrown in now and then (so much more challenging than "country" decor. I think that as a designer, you really "get" it! I appreciate your talent, expertise, and am always inspired by your marvelous sense of style in design.

  31. Wow - these turned out GREAT! I find IKAT to be so unpredictable. It can look very flower child in a small swatch, and then very sophisticated in a large dose. That's the look you have going here. Love it.

  36. Hi Janell,
I just recently discovered your site and have been voraciously reading every post! Can I ask what the shades are on your windows (bamboo? seagrass?), and where you got them? I have looked at bamboo shades, but they all seem like they would block too make light out. Thanks in advance!

  37. Well, I can totally understand the reason why you are avoiding the start of the vintage storage cabinet project. It sure does look like a lot of work but I can bet with you the amazing results will definitely be worth all those tiring days and sleepless nights. Anyway, I love the new outlook with those drapes and they create a really cozy feel.
