Winter Wonderland

This was the scene around here a year ago.
The biggest storm to hit Portland in 40 years.

Snow like this shuts our city down.

The kids loved all the extra time off from school
during the holiday break.

Luckily we all opened our homes to each other
so cabin fever was kept at bay.

On the way home from a neighbors one night....

Stunning.

And while a little snow would be lovely for the holidays,
I'll pass on the record breaking storms...
please?

This Winter Wonderland is attending a fun impromptu linky party at Living with Lindsay!

Wow it looks so gorgeous!! I can only imagine... just every once in a while a huge snow is fun though, yes? ;-)

Yes, once every 40 years it is a complete and wonderful experience.
(I grew up in Alaska and spend years in Chicago, I've done my snow time, thank you very much.)

You would get along very well with my husband. I grew up in FL, so I'm still enchanted by snow (even though I've lived up North for the last 13 years). My husband, on the other hand, just sees all the shoveling he's going to have to do!

We are getting our first official snow today - I'm excited!

That's what I say ~ I've done my snow time, thank you very much! From shoveling to driving in it to having my car spin totally around and land between two telephone poles facing back the way I came. Yes. I'm done with snow.

we had snow like that when I was a child (here in Georgia). I wish my kids can experience such a thing! they would have a blast!!! I still get excited when I hear that we might get a little snow...

hey, that last picture is one that I would frame. I think I mentioned this before to you on RMS!

i live in CA but grew up in IL and oh how i miss the snowy winters -- sounds crazy to all of these Californians, but it just makes Christmas seem like Christmas!! these are gorgeous pictures

Simply gorgeous. Pictures like this make me miss living somewhere with a real winter (though four months of winter is WAY too much for me). It puts our little "snow storm" that Houston had on Friday to total shame.

I worked in Kuwait for 8 years its always 1000 degrees there.;) so when we moved to Germany its always snowing and freezing cold even on a summer afternoon at the pool.(extreme weather for both country).
Now living in Georgia my recollection of snow here was 6mos. after we moved from Germany. the girls had a balls but, thanks for the snow storm anyway, i'm done with it too.
Cute Isabella, sitting pretty on the snow.LOL!

Update,

I've had to change my comments setting to not allow annonymous commenting, at least for now. I have been getting some upsetting links through a few comments. I have deleted them once I see these come in. However, I apologize to anyone who may have hit on these comments.

If this doesn't work I'll have to go back to asking for word verification. I'll keep you posted.

Wow! What a winter wonderland! We are just getting pelted here in TN with cold, damp rain! Blah! I would much rather be in your neck of the woods!

Beautiful pictures! It reminds me of upstate NY where I grew up. Now I live near DC so one inch shuts it down around here :) We have gotten snow and its stayed around. Lauren built three snow-folks in our front yard (the family). The she kicked off the heads ~ hmmmm??!! I think she was practicing karate..... hopefully!

When I saw the thumbnail for this post on my sidebar, I thought "No way! They got snow and we didn't?" I'll admit, I was a bit jealous. (Ok, a lot jealous!) But I clicked on your post and saw that it was about last year. We got tons of snow last year too. And it actually stuck around! I'm hoping that we at least get a little snow up here in Seattle. It's so much fun for the kids...and us too!

Great pictures!

Beautiful photos! We just had a winter storm here last night and today it's super cold and windy so there's blizzard warnings right to the south of us. The fresh new snow is pretty and it's our first storm of the season so I'm actually liking it. When this happens in January, Feb, March, April... THEN I'll be irritated. :-)

So jealous! Wish it would snow here. It's just cold enough to maybe just maybe snow. But we only get lucky every ten years or so. Love your photos !
