Lighting Ideas

The Riviera Iron Lantern from Shades Of Light was a great choice for the Living Room Redesign. It is looking wonderful.

The only issue is how this beautiful fixture is causing the light in the adjacent space to look even less fabulous than it had previously.

I have considered placing another Riviera Iron Lantern here, but it would get lost in this larger room with high ceilings. It has been a challenge to find a large fixture whose lines work well with the Lantern, appeals to me on its own and is priced right. When you find something that is such a good choice, to find its partner can be hard, particularly if you don't want to simple purchase a fixture from the same group. (And I looked, the Riviera Lantern doesn't seem to come from a line of coordinating fixtures.)

After browsing many more upscale resources I finally spent some time at the Lamps Plus website. I found this, from Forecast. It is substantially larger than the Riviera Iron Lantern, I like that its shades relate back to the Lantern's shades, and the lines of the fixture vaguely repeat the lines on the Lantern. The finish could have a bit more gold tone, but I could easily fix that. However, is more than I want to spend, so I'm considering it while I watch my mail for a Lamps Plus coupon!

Now to the entry. The existing fixture really isn't bad, but stylistically is a complete departure from the Riviera Iron Lantern. When I get around to replacing it I am feeling the love for some of the options below, all found at Lamps Plus. Hum, I am liking this company more and more.

The lines of Chase Collection from Robert Abbey relate well to the Rivera Lantern and the Forecast Chandelier. Neither the Bronze or the Dark Nickel finish is exactly right, and perhaps the design is a bit busy.

Now this I am loving. The Robert Abbey Doughnut Collection. Very clean and sculptural, looks rich and modern without being trendy. I like all the finishes, but to get nick picky, the silver I'd have to see in person, the bronze could use a bit more gold and the gold could use a bit more bronze. I'd like one, mixed to order please.

These are from the same line, they also really appeal to me. Clean with slightly masculine lines and a timeless design.

With the Holidays here and gifts the priority, I suspect I won't be ordering any of these soon, but I'll be mulling over my choices!

I love the chandelier! It is lovely. Have you considered this: http://www.shadesoflight.com/urban-loft-ceiling-light.html ? I like the classic and simple lines and this the finish and metal detail will relate well to the others. Just a thought.

I used to want that Doughnut collection light so bad. It always reminds me of a present. Love the chandy, too!

All beautiful options but I can see your struggle here to find something that really "fits" with the other fixture (which is stunning!). Hopefully you'll find something "just right" after the holidays (and hopefully on sale!).

That is the thing I love about design, it is very subjective and everyone has a unique eye and preference! Janell
