A Detour Of Sorts - Holiday Decorating

Before jumping into my next redesign project...

Office for the Man of the House
or Bedroom for the Boy of the House

...I thought I'd try something I've never really done before.
Holiday Decor.

Well yes, I've dragged dusty boxes in from the garage, pulling out our hodgepodge of hand me down decorations to scatter about the house. But this year I'm inspired to get creative and really decorate, with a color story no less! Today I gathered the above inspiration during quick shopping trip to Target. I love the mix of silver and gold with the turquoise, silver and muted gold ornaments.

I have no idea exactly what I'm going to do, but with several festivities planned at our home throughout the holiday season I figured why not give it a try. Something like the scenes below...

Wow! Those are beautiful holiday pictures. I always like how people bring in a bit of the outdoor beauty into a home during the holidays like the branches on the fireplace mantel. I cannot wait to see what you will come up with for the holidays!

Those are the colors I'm using this year (I used them last year too)! I never thought of adding gold to the mix. I use Silver, turquoise, and glass. I thought about using more of a pewter/gray instead of the silver this year.

I can't wait to see how your decorations turn out.

Oh and as always, your wrapping paper MUST match your christmas decor!

Yes, the issue of coordinating paper did occur to me this morning as I looked at the image from CountryLiving.com that I posted! Ha, we'll see if I take it that far!

i, too, have been craving a white christmas route this year. i think it's the whole living by the ocean thing that has me inspired (although i've been doing that for 10 years now, and never had the urge to pull out a snowball covered tree)...

can't wait to see what you come up with...

Hah! We're totally on the same page, Janelle! How funny....

And Target has some great ornaments on offer. I've been picking up a few here and there from them for years.

I love X-mas decor. last year when Macy's had the 70% off for the decors i got this whole set of silver and glass ornaments. I also had a poinsetta in white and silver put on top of the tree instead of star or angel.
And guess what? i even had my tree put up last Sun. My daughter start getting it on the attic,
And in my country Christmas is something we celebrate the most, since i'm excited with my new decor why not?
I was in target yesterday and they had this wrapper from the $1 rack section its silver and red stipe in somewhat foillike paper. i was thinking of using it but the back side of the wrapper w/c is solid silver in color to match the motiff.

Goodluck to you, and can't wait for the hubby's office redesign.

Beautiful images - if mine could look a fraction that good when I'm done I'll be pleased :-)

I love decorating for the holidays! Plus its that much better when you have people coming over to actually enjoy all your work! Love your color combo idea...that is one of the things I love about holiday decorating, you can make just about any color combo work. I've wrapped up random empty boxes the last few years in coordinating wrapping paper (I looove paper) and used them as part of my decor. I also try to keep things simple with lots of fresh greenery, garlannds, berries, wreaths, etc. Can't wait for your stuff!

I've been collecting bright green and aqua ornaments for 2 or 3 years. I FINALLY have my house decorated in those colors, so I am very excited this year to have a green, aqua, and silver Christmas!

I have never really tried either, not sure if it will happen this year, but I love the scheme you have going on!

Oh! I love the first picture. What s great color combination. I'm a red and gold kind of gal. I went all out the last couple of years and plurged on red and gold christmas ornaments for our big tree in the living room. Our sentimental ornaments go now on my daughter's tree in the family room or my husband's tree in our lower level. I also love touches of Christmas all over the house. I hang bulbs from just about anything! Julia at Hooked on Houses is having a Holiday Showcase on Dec 11 I think and I'll post my house there. I bet she'll have a lot to look at!

Love all of your hard work! If your type in Christmas or RMS there are some beautiful Christmas rooms that are currently posted. Really Really nice ones. I think a few of them were done last year and are now coming back up. Take a gander at those and you are sure to find some inspiration.
