More Children's Art + Furnishing A Landing

A few years ago I picked up this large canvas at another Aaron Brothers sale for Isabella to have her hand at painting. Fun! Painting has since become a favorite project for both Max & Isabella.

It hangs in the landing at the top of the stairs, an oddly large spot which puzzled me when first visiting the house. I recall telling our realtor, "What wasted space!" I have to admit I was wrong.

This spot is perfect for the Blanca Settee, a floor model I found at Pottery Barn last year. It was in perfect condition and priced at nearly a third of the original cost. Later I went online and found it listed at full price. What a deal!! The yellow Ikat fabric looks great with the painting...and what really impresses me? Look how the fabric design lines up perfectly between the frame and cushion. Good job PB!

The kids read here, and it's a great place to lay things that need to be put away or taken downstairs. Clean laundry gets placed here for the kids to take into their rooms. Yes, it's a good (rare) day when they actually remember to put it away.

Very cute!
I love that bench. I saw at PB outlet when I was in Virginia and tried to figure out a way to fit it into my suitcase!! It was a great deal.

Oh, too funny! I wish there was an outlet near me...instead just have to watch for sales.

The area also needs a little table (passed on a great one I saw at HomeGoods and later saw it in a Show House...no kidding! I looked underneath it and there indeed was the HomeGoods tag!) Also window treatments, but if everything was done what would I blog about?

I love it! I think this is my most over used phrase, but it's hard not to use it when I'm commenting on one of your posts! I have to remind myself of not rushing things to be "finished" around the house too!

I love it and love that you blog about it!

I just LOVE your color and pattern combinations. What is that fabulous color on the wall?!

I'd like to do a lighter version in our new office.

Lovely idea of giving your daughter a blank canvas! It worked out great.
Especially against the grey painted wall.

The sofa also just kind of lines it all up, and plus its handy!

Perfect.

One of my favorite things to see in family homes is tastefully displayed children's art. Your daughter's is lovely. And so chic with the settee. Yes, I said 'chic' and I mean it.

Your frame series of prints and paper dolls is so darling. It really turns a house into a home.

Wonderful finds here! Also, I made an interesting discovery. Here’s an excerpt from an article I wrote about it this month…
DÉCOR TIPS & QUIPS from AlphabetPIX.com
Bring Out The YOU In Your Home Decor!
Bill Blass said, “Style is primarily a matter of instinct.” Decorating takes on a new meaning for each individual. Different tastes in decor mean different furniture, artwork and color palettes. So what is the rule of thumb for making your place zing if it’s not a certain style, pattern, or color?
Bring out the Y-O-U!
Make a statement and let your personality shine through! Add your zing to make it pop. Hang something personal on the wall with a few well-chosen accents-bold and beautiful. The trend for decor is becoming more and more personalized.
Whatever you want to say while decorating, say it with your own individual style. Put it out there for the world to see and don’t look back. Express yourself! When people enter your home they’ll shoot you a complementary smile, knowing it looks and feels sooooo perfectly like you. And no one can do YOU better.

I've always wanted to do something like this, but I dont think my art would be nearly as pretty as a kids artwork. I guess I'll have to wait till I have kids of my own for this idea too. It's saved in my inspiration files though- thanks!
