Girl's Dream Bedroom - Mirrors

Sanding the sunburst mirror was like an archaeological dig, uncovering layers of paint from white to yellow, down to hints of an original gold finish. I guess this is why the mirror was available for just a couple dollars!

Didn't I just refinish a sunburst mirror? A case of deja vu...sanding, priming, painting. Oh, but wait, this time there is a difference... Rub'n Buff. If I am not careful this product will cover way too many surfaces in my home! (I LOVE this stuff...probably because not only does it look great but it is just so much fun to use!)

Next, the wall mirror. I am debating its future look...should it remain as is or be refinished?

  1. While I'm certainly no designer, I love the wall mirror as is - it brings out the gold finish in the chandelier. Finish may make the room too "matchy"...but that's just my 2-cents. The project is going beautifully. Gosh, how I wish you were in So. Cal. to help me with my family room!!! It's an enormous challenge. Please post more progress soon!! I can't wait to see the completed master bedroom!!!

  3. I, too, would leave the the wall mirror as is because of the chandelier. And I also wish that you were here in my town (Atlanta)!!

By the way, Do you use Satin or
Matte paint in your home, or does it depend on the room. I tend to like Sherwin Williams Matte, but I forgot that it may not be such a good idea for the Kitchen

  4. Isabella is the one who wants to change the finish of the mirror...isn't that a hoot?! I am liking it more and more as is, with its gold finish. We are moving on to another project while we consider what to do. (ie: I convince her to keep it as is.)

Paint: Satin, usually. Especially in a kitchen. Can't wait to see what you are doing...Janell

  7. I, too, like the wall mirror the way it is. And I love how Isabella gets a say in key decorating decisions. Such a good mom! I have boys and I don't think they care one way or another what I do, as long as nothing's pink. :)
